Vancouver just proved that zero grit isn't going to get you anywhere in the playoffs no matter how much skill you have. We need grit. This guy has it. And I bet a team between 7 and 10 draft slots would like to get our 15 and next year's first to allow us to move up. I'd be willing to do that if I was the SCAM.

Watching FLA/NYR game last night...While not having the overall skill that the NYR possess - FLA has enough, but more impressively is their willingness to play hard nosed borderline dirty hockey...It's like 'FLA Man' went into 'NYR Joe' apartment, ate his hero sandwich, screwed his girl, and wiped his azz on the curtains on his way back home to the Everglades. Those are the types I want on my team.

The cost would be too high to draft a player at a position of stregth imo. I dont disagree that this team needs more skill but its obvious Yzerman prioritizes responsible hard working character players. He doesnt avoid skill its just not at the top of his list. So far it seems to be working. Seiders a work horse that supposedly had very little skill upside in his draft year. The skill is there and hes gonna be a top10 dman through his prime. Raymond while undersized is a dog on pucks rarely loses puck battles the skill is undeniable. Edvinssons a unit but also has a silky smooth stride and hands. Kasper similar to Seider was said to have very little skill upside but showed in the SHL and AHL that the skill is there and should translate to the NHL. Danielsons known for his defensive capabilities but hes no slouch offensively either. ASPs the only example of a pure skill player he selected in the 1st round and that was with his 2nd of 2 picks.

I agree and that's a problem... we have enough of that type, we need some pure skill guys. We have the 200ft guys that can allow a skilled guy to flourish. I think 15, Berggren and one of Fabbri, Holl, Matta, Chairot (whichever they want) since they need we need to move cap out.
