I'd pick Hudler 10 times out of 10... and twice on Sunday.
No thanks to this Kostitsyn bum. As bad as Hudler was last year, I know he is a legit goal scorer. And with this being his contract year, I expect him to have a career year and score lots of big goals.
Unless Kenny can trade Hudler for a gritty top6 goal scorer, I say keep him and enjoy his 2011 goal production. You'd have to be ignorant to think Hudler will have another this bad of season while entering his prime... (especially during a contract year).

It was mentioned earlier Hudler should just be allowed to play a Brett Hull game, and I completely agree. I don't really care to see him trying to play physical, grind in the corners and backcheck, because frankly, he isn't good at it. Hudler should be told to simply find open space.
I know Babcock is a stickler for 'everyone backchecks' but Bowman at least knew his players' strengths and weaknesses enough to say 'everyone but LaFleur/Lemieux/Jagr/Hull/Holmstrom backchecks'.

You are so funny, first of all Holmstrom is 38 years old, and he is STILL out performing Hudler at 26. Same amount of points last year in the same amount of games, but Holmstrom's points are earned in a way that Hudler could NEVER understand NOR would he ever attempt. I'd take one Holmstrom over four Hudler's anytime and anyday. We aren't even going to mention Holmstrom's worth to this team over Hudler in the the playoffs... You are just taking your love for Hudler way too far now bud, just stop, please, stop.

Size and speed are overrated, see Dats and Z for examples of what elite vision and ability can do in a frame that is under 1,85cm.

If the Wings can get away with trading one of Flip or Hudler for Semin, and not give up any top prospects or first round picks, then that's something to be considered. The Wings have several forwards who are as good or better defensively than Flip, and he is not among the team's best PKers. Flip for Semin as the only roster players doesn't harm Detroit's PK, but improves the PP. Maybe the lines could work out like this:
Semin/Datsyuk/Bertuzzi
Hudler/Zetterberg/Franzen
Cleary/Helm/Eaves
Mursak/Abdelkader/Holmstrom
If it's Hudler instead of Filppula, maybe it works out like this:
Semin/Datsyuk/Cleary
Franzen/Zetterberg/Holmstrom
Abdelkader/Filppula/Bertuzzi
Mursak/Helm/Eaves

Hudler is just a useless dried up ***** that not only doesn't hit or battle for the puck, but cannot score for crap. So they are both pussys, but Semin at least scores...and unlike Hudler, if you put Semin on Datsyuk's line, he will flourish...

why should we care? None of these will play for the Red Wings next season and I think most of them will be signed by those dates. Especially, Parise and Weber.

Insurance signing - He will be the starter in GR, unless something unexpected happens where neither Osgood or Conklin fill the roll, it's a good backup plan... he gets his money, with his one way contract to play in GR and the Wings can call him up and feel confident that he is at least competent if needed.
