Detroit Lions, NFL 2006 Season Thread

Saints are easily the best story in the NFL this year. The Saints are easily in the top 5 with the Bears, Colts, Chargers and Pats.

Not sure about the Saints in the top 5 right now. I'd swap them out of your list and add in Denver with their defense.

That gives 4 of the top 5 teams in the AFC, although an argument can be had for Seattle to be added into the top 5

Seahawks have given more points than scored. Denver has a strong case. I personally think Jacksonville will be a tough team down the stretch. Hard to argue with Chicago not being the best team this year. They have an defense AND offense this year

Seattle has only given up more points because of the blowout loss in Chicago. They are playing one dimensional right now without Alexander.

Jacksonville is a solid football team but their offense leaves a lot to be desired and they just lost their 2nd defensive starter for the season. They will be a tough out and seeing as how they play in a weak division, they should make it into the playoffs.

You make it sound like they will just sneak in the playoffs. J'ville was 12-4 last year, having the 4th best record in the NFL.

I also don't see how the AFC south is a poor divison when they have one of the best teams in the NFL in the Colts in the divison. Yes, the Titans and Texans are poor NFL teams, but there are bad teams in every divison.

I honestly can see a team like the Jets sneaking in the playoffs. They are 3-3 and gotta love this schedule.

Detroit

@ Cleveland

Bye

@ NE

Chicago

Houston

@ Green Bay

Buffalo

@ Minnesota

@ Miami

Oakland

Anyone else feel that if this team doesn't go 10-6, it will be a disappointment.

Lions = Joke. Sooner or later I would love for them to stop talking like they're really good and just haven't shown it yet. Roy Williams in particular, but Kitna's talking that way too, as is Fire Millen (Matt is no longer his first name).

Course it doesn't help that Rogers and Cody are both out. Feh.

Imagine if the Lions won the Superbowl......Imagine what will happen if the Tigers win it this year. Now multiply that by 100. The city of Detroit would be in ashes.

Why am I even thinking this when Detroit will probally never make the playoffs in my lifetime?

Roethlisberger is awful this season, they need to do the same thing Miami is doing with Culpepper and sit him for the rest of the season and let Batch play. The team looked a lot better with Batch at the helm so far.

I agree Big Ben isn't the same as last year, but you can't sit him in favor of Batch.

He should have sat v the Raiders, but you cant sit him the rest of the year. He needs to learn how to play through the bad times just like the good times he had his first two seasons. Chalk this year up to a learning experience if they can't run the table, because thats the only way they get into the playoffs now.

I was at the Atlanta game, and he played a great game before he got hit helmet to helmet. He's a damn good QB, but we are having major issues blocking up front this year. Our O-Line needs an upgrade or two. Its a disappointing season coming off two great years, but the accident, appendectomy and now his concussion caught up to Ben and we've had some injury issues that we haven't been able to overcome.

I'll gladly take 1 down year to reload with some good draft picks because this football team can compete if they eliminate the turnover issue.

it's sad when your shocked and confused when the lions win. But are not when they lose in any way.

After fifty years of futility, this kind of reaction has become the default, I'm afraid. :P

Lions have a tough road ahead of them: SF, Miami, Arizona. They've already damaged their first overall chances with the upset today; it's gonna be a challenge to get through those games without picking up another W. But I believe in you Lions! 2-14! 2-14!
