Detroit Lions, NFL 2006 Season Thread

Is it too early to talk about the 2007 NFL Draft. Anyone think that Brady Quinn would like nice as a Lions QB.

He'd come to the Lions and suck. I hope the Lions don't draft Stanton. I like Drew, I want to see him have a good career in the NFL. And it ain't going to happen with the Lions.

I was thinking we should just let the NFL move the Lions to L.A. Then we start from scratch with an expansion team with a new name, new colors, new owners, and NO MILLEN!

NO FORD AS WELL!

I think Stanton has potential to be a very good NFL QB, but he has a history of playing bad in big games. If the Lions drafted Quinn or Stanton I think they would both suck just because they are on the Lions. Any other team they would probably be sweet.

Its at 12:30 Blak.

Its pretty bad when all you have to look forward to is the crowd. Being on national tv i just hope we do something great like start cheering Joey late in the game. That would be hilarious...the anti Millen stuff had better be in full effect! Dont let me down Detroit.

I also want to see Joey torch Bly! (and i actually have a Bly jersey by the way so im not a hater) The Lions are only good for comedy at this point, like every year, i want the funniest things possible to happen. To see Joey throw for 350 and 4 TD's and get roaring cheers would make my day!

Just another reason today why the NFL needs to take away Thanksgiving Day games away from a MISERABLE Lions franchise. This team has no business being on national tv like this every year. Enough is enough already.

The fans with the bags on their heads was a nice touch though.

*sigh* another year, another wonderful Thanksgiving display. I am pretty much thoroughly convinced that the Lions can do nothing at all to improve their team until Matt Millen is thrown out on the street.

And Ford Sr. sells the team.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm very happy for Joey. He put up with so much s*** when he was in Detroit. To see him come back and light up the Lions made me smile. I would have liked to see him flip of the fans, or talk some s*** to Dre Bly, but he's not that type of guy.

Heck no! Thats all the Lions have going for them. You can't break that long of tradition! If the NFL ever took of the Lions or Cowboys off (even though I hate them) I would be pissed. You can't break that kind of tradition just b/c you want your precious steelers on

Damn that was sweet. I don't usually watch the Tackling Dummies from Detroit, but with Joey coming back I had to tune in. Listening to the crowd boo him and then he brings his team back to crush the Tackling Dummies was classic. Best game the Dummies have been involved with in a hell of a long time. Very happy for Harrington.

WHY CANT WILLIAM CLAY FORD SENIOR JUST SELL THE TEAM SO THE LIONS CAN BE GOOD!!!

Oh and for those who have season tickets and won’t cancel them. Theirs no way in hell that you enjoy going to the games and watching them lose and never make the playoffs. So why do you continue to give Ford the thousand of dollars of this non excitement? If you like wasting your money then give me $500 every season. No difference in giving me the money like you do on giving it to Ford.

Don't whine about the Lions and Cowboys. YOU GOT YOUR WISH!!

all the "why do we have to watch the Lions and Cowboys on Thanksgiving" moaning has paid off. You have a game tonight which doesn't feature both teams and the night game will be adjusted year after year so your steelers will be featured every once in a while.

Absolutely not. Why not just take Terrible Towels away from the Steelers, or make the Packers heat their field so the tundra's not so frozen? The Raiders have their Black Hole, the Browns have their Dawg Pound - we have our Thanksgiving football.

And if you've never seen fans with bags on their heads, you haven't been watching the Lions long enough. I think that was pretty much a Silverdome staple that's moved downtown with the team.

I have NFL Sunday ticket to see my Steelers. I dont need to see them on Thanksgiving Day. They get enough primetime games as it is. Their game v the Saints two weeks back was the 2nd highest rated football game of the year. It beat the Sunday night game ratings that night.

But the NFL is doing a disservice to its fans by having one of the bottom 5 franchises in the national spotlight each year. No one wants to watch a team that is never competitive in a national spotlight game.

Why do you think NBC has the "flex" option in their contract to cherry pick the best game of the week for the Sunday Night Football package in the last half of the season.

The Lions are a disgrace of a football team. The NFL needs to spotlight the game of football on Thanksgiving Day with good teams/franchises. I guess thats why they have the NFL Network game on right now. I could go without ever seeing the Lions again for the early game.

The whole team doesnt need to be fired, just everyone except for Kevin Jones, Roy Williams, Mike Furrey, Dan Campbell, and Shaun Rogers! ;) Are we EVER going to have a good offensive line? How about just a decent one?

My fantasy team would like to thank Tony Romo for his performance. Is this guy good or what? This whole situation just reminds me of Tom Brady, the situations werent the same but good ol' Drew to a backseat to both. I think the Lions need to sign Bledsoe so he can be replaced by Orlovsky!

No one wants to watch? Okay? There are millions who want to watch the Lions on Thanksgiving. If you don't like it don't watch. The Steelers suck this year too. So I guess they should take them off MNF this year because according to you its bad to show bad teams on TV.

Sorry. Among Lions fans you'll never get that argument to fly. Maybe when it comes to all the other nationally televised prime-time matchups (a grand total of 34 games just among the Sunday night/Monday night matchups....not including the upcoming Thursday night games, the pre-weekend game to start the season, and oh yeah, the playoffs) there's certainly a strong case for keeping the Lions local. Throw in, of course, all the Redskins games foisted upon the nation at large by Fox (despite the fact that they're 3-7 and I live in Seattle) and I refuse to give in when it comes to getting one stinking chance at watching my team on national TV during what happens to be a 70+ year old tradition.

Our record does suck, but the Steelers have the 2nd highest rated game of the year. They draw fans/viewers like no other NFL team. Turn on NFL Network today and watch the Steeler Nation special.

The only people with an interest in seeing the Lions on Thanksgiving are those in Detroit. If you took a nationwide poll, you would see people wanting to watch an NFL franchise worth a damn and not one owned by the Ford's because they drop big advertising $$. That's the only reason the Lions haven't lost the game yet.
