Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 12, 2007 ... that Dallas is only one point behind supposedly-mighty San Jose in the standings? As such, should we draw 4th seed, we might just face off against Dallas in the first round, versus playoff swiss-cheese Turco.
mrhockey2k 2 Report post Posted February 12, 2007 Nashville, San Jose, Anaheim in that order are the three teams that scare me come playoff time this year.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted February 12, 2007 Go go Dallas. Playing them would be a good way to get in gear for when the real playoffs start.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted February 12, 2007 I hope it stays that way. I think the entire state of Michigan gets inside Turcos head.
akustyk 84 Report post Posted February 12, 2007 Nashville, San Jose, Anaheim in that order are the three teams that scare me come playoff time this year. my call exactly, except for the ordering. from the 1st round perspective it'd be: SJ, ANA, NSH 2nd round: ANA, NSH, SJ 3rd round: NSH, ANA, SJ 4th round: oh wait.. arnoldbuck 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2007 W/ both the Ducks and the Prads taking such early leads this season, but having San Jose and us also so strong we have pretty much be lined up to play eachother for as long as I can remember. I kinda liked the idea in the beginning of the season of flying under the radar, taking a lower seed than we in Detroit are used to, BUT, that being said, with the way San Jose has man-handled us this year, def. not so sure I wont to meet up with them right away. SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted February 12, 2007 Go Dallas not San Jose! Do it for me at the very least, cause I could make a fairly not-so-long road trip to Dallas for one of the playoff games.

It's not like Dallas is that far behind San Jose. Equally dangerous IMO.

BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted February 12, 2007 I'd love to face off against Dallas in the first round, or any time in the playoffs. I could go to a game then.
FinWing 26 Report post Posted February 12, 2007 Or maybe the Wings should try to slip down to 6th so they could face the 3rd-placed Canucks in the first round...

Dallas is pretty entertaining this season, better than I expected really. I have tickets next weekend 2/23 to see them square off against Anaheim. That oughta be a hum-dinger! Was it someone in this forum who said if Turco slipped and cracked his head on the ice, Red Wings would spill out? I loved that line.

Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 14, 2007 (edited) I would play Dallas over San Jose anyday Agreed. Also note that San Jose and Dallas also stand a very good chance of winning the division, given the way Anaheim has played over the last two months. FYI: For all screamers and whiners, San Jose only beat the Blues by a goal tonight. No doubt their fans are practically tearing their hair out in panic, no? Guest EZBAKETHAGANGSTA Report post Posted February 14, 2007 Nashville, San Jose, Anaheim in that order are the three teams that scare me come playoff time this year. Disagree with Nashville. San Jose is exactly what the Wings fear. BIG FAST AND CAN SCORE. i think out of all the teams, san jose is the one i do not want to face this season. ill take dallas any day
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted February 14, 2007 (edited) Or maybe the Wings should try to slip down to 6th so they could face the 3rd-placed Canucks in the first round... Dan Cloutier's not the goalie though. Those 50 foot bombs from the point won't go in as easy. Edited February 14, 2007 by Kp-Wings
kylee 727 Report post Posted February 14, 2007 what is everyone afraid of nashville so much for? seriously, i want to know. San Jose on the other, i can see that being a big problem. nashville arent proven winners in the playoffs, yeah theyre playing great this year, but as we know just as recent as last year, the playoffs are a whole new game. Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted February 14, 2007 That would be great , we get some toughness at teh dealien and I bet we win the series
akustyk 84 Report post Posted February 14, 2007 nashville arent proven winners in the playoffs, yeah theyre playing great this year, but as we know just as recent as last year, the playoffs are a whole new game. you can't say for sure, but they have enough depth and good enough goaltending to go far. and the further they get the more dangerous they'll be with growing confidence. they sure have the depth, and with 6+ M$ cap space are also in position to add huge names for playoff run. unless they f* it up by screwing team chemistry they'll be real. yeah, I'd not want to face them in 2nd round or in WCF. in fact, when Holland shops for physical forward we'll be able to say similar of Wings

Nashville is a good team. They have a well balenced mix of scoring, toughness, good D, solid goaltending, and enough depth to make up for any injuries they may have. I think they are beatable though, more so than San Jose. Nashville we could probably handle, depending on what Holland does at the trade deadline. San Jose would be a problem either way though, so I really hope we don't end up with them.
Vincanni 1 Report post Posted February 14, 2007 Anyone at all aware of the Canucks winning percentage against us these past few years, can't pull up the exact numbers but I do believe it's better than any other team in the West's. If there is a team I don't want to see first round it's Vancouver, San Jose my preseason picks to win the cup are in a close second however. Just not entirely sure how effective they'd be in a playoff atmosphere since sans powerplays they're not half as scary and we all know that scenario come playoff time a bit to well. arnoldbuck 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2007 I live in BC, so like in 02' I was getting absolutley grilled by everyone we Detroit went down 2-0. Van is gettin hot right now, and regardless of a potential lack of goal scoring, they do have Lyuongo in net which means sometiems they only need 1 to win. That being said, as much as it would stress me out if those two collided, I would love to see Detroit take out Van in the playoffs again.
