BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted February 20, 2007 I'm not exactly in love with Hudler, but I'm not sure about this trade. The problems with Bertuzzi are, a) his health is in question, b) he's not necessarily the physical force he used to be since the Moore incident and c) Bertuzzi has had problems scoring in the playoffs. On the other hand, Bertuzzi's physicality alone won them a playoff series against St. Louis a few years ago. He single handedly destroyed at least three players, putting Jackman and MacInnis out and nailing Bryce Salvador so hard I'm not sure he's gotten up yet. Even though he wasn't scoring in that series, he was a major factor in the Canucks winning it. I just don't know if he still has that in him at this point. Remember the old "Chelios called me fat" thing from a few years ago? When those two were talking trash, Chelios said Bertuzzi told him, "I'll be around long after you're gone," to which Cheli replied, "Don't count on it." I laughed at it back then. But is it such a crazy notion now?

Well the ducks are in the running and if you have been reading the other pages on this thread the panthers are wanting Perry from the ducks... Burke is not dumb and would never do that deal EVER I'm not exactly in love with Hudler, but I'm not sure about this trade. chelios4eva 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2007 You seem shocked. Are you new? LOL No its just that, I mean goalies or Captaincy or something like that I can understand how that is contiversial, but was I dreaming or for the past to months was EVERYBODYbeen saying we need a big gritty guy. I mean I don't recall hearing (or reading) any one say we don't need one. Its like saying I want a car at a time where cars are very scarce. So finally, luckily I'm able to get a car but I don't like the color so I say I don't want it. Well sorry, its either you get that color car or nothing. We are unable to find another huge gritty guy, especially for the price of a smalll, petit kid who anyway gets limited ice time. Thats another thing, everyone complains that hudler gets limited ice time and every one says thats not gonna change. The way I see it its a win-win situation

HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted February 20, 2007 Awww Reem. I know everytime you like someone they get shipped off. I told you to start drooling over Lilja!!! It's so true! First it was Ozzie in '01, and then when I really started liking the Islanders they traded him to the Blues so I was pissed all over again. Then I liked Avery a lot..and he got traded. I was also a huge fan of Robitailles..and he left! So yes..I have no luck. That's it. I'm going to go have myself a Lilja love fest.
Lhockeytowngirl 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2007 (edited) I was just watching TSN and their hockey insider, Bob McKenzie, said that Detroit and Anaheim are the two front-runners for Bertuzzi. However, both teams feel that the asking price is too high right now. Florida wants Hudler from Detroit and Perry from Anaheim in any deal involving Bertuzzi. I have said it before and I will say it again don't want him on the wings! Hope it never happens! Edited February 20, 2007 by Lhockeytowngirl
Guest GodofHockeyStevieY19 Report post Posted February 20, 2007 (edited) This is extremely simple for me. Peace Out Hudler. I love the kid. But the toughness plus scoring ability that Bert has is definitely worth it. And this is coming from someone who has hated Bertuzzi for years. But lets be real. The dude is tough and can score with the best of em. If we can add that dimension and only lose one role player. I say its an easy decision. Come on Kenny. Make this move! Brad Isbister 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2007 This is what I find myself asking.........myself Can we win the cup with the team we have now? Only if Dats and Hank play 60 minutes every night. So I say bring rent a bear to the orginization, slap him on a line with Robert Doo Lang Doo Lang Doo Lang and lets atleast have two productive lines for our playoff run. eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted February 20, 2007 No. [/font] I would rather keep Hudler ,plus: For what Florida is asking, we could get better than Bertuzzi. I personally would love to see them pick up Glen Murray for perhaps a Meech and a mid-round pick.

As for Meech (and Williams, by extension) I don't think he has any trade value at all. At least for Willy, we could include him in part of the deal with the assurance that it's just so we can get rid of the guy. Murray is a big strong guy who can score and play in the corners. He's not a crazy hitter, but he uses his strength to score. Oh, and Murray has 20-22-42 in 87 games in the playoffs, which is pretty similar to Bertuzzi's 6-8-14 in 24 games. Murray, however, has 8-9-17 in 31 games since the 2001 playoffs, which was Bertuzzi's first appearance. So basically, we can get a guy who is a better person, big, strong, better playoff player than Bertuzzi, and quite possibly without giving up a top prospect, high pick, or core player. Sounding better and better every minute.

eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted February 20, 2007 JUSTIN ABDELKADER, CORY EMMERTON , JOHAN RYNO & IGOR GRIGORENKO to name a few. All of which are better than Hudler at this point in their respective career's... Wow, then our future really IS bright...if you consider the fact that Hudler has been better than Datsyuk at every stage of their respective careers. If Abdelkader>Hudler at the same stage, that means Abdelkader is going to be the next Shanahan. Which means that anyone who ever bashed Holland about drafting him instead of a power forward needs to stick their head in the sand right now.
Mighty Wings 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2007 Ok, make it Willy and a pick. Whatever. In case you didn't know, there are like a zillion other threads about wiliams' trade value. Some even think waiving him isn't a bad idea.

Just nitpicking for no reason...but if Adbelkader were the next Shanahan, he would be one of the top power forwards in the game. So i dont get the whole criticizing Holland for not taking a PF part. kylee 727 Report post Posted February 20, 2007 im still not sold on the Wings going after bert. seems like a dirty player. and im not totally sold that Hudler is going to be a stud here. but i like his speed. and i can see his potential. plus hes just a rookie yet.. joshy207 156 Report post Posted February 20, 2007 (edited) I'd have to take this deal without a second thought, even if it includes a pick as high as 2nd round. There aren't that many other players out there who fit the Wings' needs, are as available, and are *relatively* cheap like Bertuzzi. As said, Guerin will cost more. As for Hudler, I'm not sold on him becoming a bonafide top-line forward, a "sniper". Will he put up 35 or 40 goals? I don't know, his size is going to hurt him, no matter how fast and how slippery he might be. Plus, he can always come back as a free agent. Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted February 20, 2007 Murray is a big strong guy who can score and play in the corners. He's not a crazy hitter, but he uses his strength to score. He really reminds of Shanny or Lang. Big and strong, yes, but it's not the most deadly part of their arsenal or one that they use to their biggest advantage. So basically, we can get a guy who is a better person, big, strong, better playoff player than Bertuzzi, and quite possibly without giving up a top prospect, high pick, or core player. Sounding better and better every minute. Given the going rate of rental players, I doubt it. Might be moot if the B's still think they're in it by the deadline. Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted February 20, 2007 If it's Hudler I would do it in a heartbeat, but that's only because I don't think Hudler will be an impact player in the playoffs. Huh?
