GAME 2: (4/15) Flames @ Red Wings

I'll say it again: Los Angeles in 2001 sure looked like a sweep right about now too.

With the Wings losing both Yzerman and Shanahan in those first two games, I sure didn't. (Of course, I didn't think LA would win four-straight, either.)

Just got back from the game after a visit to Motor City casino and an hour drive back. What a game. My seats were on the aisle at center ice in row sixteen in the lower bowl and they were just incredible seats (obviously somebody's regular season seats that passed on the playoffs). The game is just so much better in the lower bow.l It's too bad it so hard to get those seats during the regular season. Anyway Hank looked good and Cleary was just flying the whole game and while the 2nd period was a little shaky, still another solid performance. Looking forward to Game 3.

Please...

A sweep is pretty much guaranteed. I mean, look at the shot totals in the first two games. Without Kiprusoff, the Wings win each game 10-0. The Flames had terrible offense to begin with, but now their defense sucks too. Iginla is completely invisible. I thought he was a "playoff warrior". Nice to see the refs crack down on Calgary's physical play as well. We don't need any of our stars getting hurt.

The only thing I'm worried about is the Wings thinking every series is going to be this easy. That's just not going to be the case. The Flames are a terrible hockey team, but no one else they play against later in the playoffs will be as easy.

I am sure offsides talked much about the game... so I will just say the intensity level in the playoffs is SWEET at the Joe!

Yeah, I was fortunate enough to get to go to today's game, and I must say, the crowd was really enthusiastic. This was especially true in the first period when we put a lot of pressure on Calgary early, and then displayed some fine penalty killing towards the end of the period.

There were some empty seats throughout the building, but what bothers me is when people leave early, so they can get out of the parking garage quicker. I also hate when people make you get up so they can go refill their beer when the play is clearly going on. It's like they don't even care.

And can we stop with this "sweep" talk? It makes us Wings fans look extremely arrogant and cocky, and it's just bad karma. It's the same thing as not saying the word "shutout" until the final buzzer sounds. Not only did we blow that lead against LA back in '01, but we also went into Nashville back in '04 and had our 2-0 lead erased. I'd think that Detroit fans should know better than anyone that anything can happen in the post-season.

Did you guys get the wave going? Haha

On Thursday, our section and the one next to use kept doing it.. we were all 1, 2, 3! Then everyone would get up..too bad it didn't go through the entire building!

Nope, no wave for us.

I do however believe the rally towels should have been red to further back the "RED WAVE" ideal

Eh I don't like the idea of red towels or red pom poms. Makes it looks like the crowd is bleeding!

Speaking of the red wave..I really like the song I totally want it.

another great game by the Wings again today!

the flames gave me a scare through the 2nd period.

Dats and Z are playing great.

Wings are in a great position going into Calgary. i think we as fans could be nothing but ecstatic if the Wings are able to spilt with Calgary and set up a game 5 put out of the flames.

 isn't that what the Red Wave is in real life, bleeding, that is? I know I am a guy... but I do know some stuff :D:P Sorry I will just never be on board with this years slogan... As with my sig... Last years was better!

That song is growing on me... Its a song that falls in the category of LYRICS FOR DUMMIES

That is why the hockey gods gave us Bernie.

Everyone should wear their shirts and bring fake black birds! (the kind of fake things you can buy at Michaels lol)

But yeah, we did the wave at the last game I was at (St. Louis game) and it was so much fun.

The Wings will not sweep. As much as I'd like it, it would be almost impossible to take BOTH games in Calgary. Especially if the Flames lose Game 3, expect a possible coaching change to be made, with the return of Darryl Sutter and his large ears returning behind the bench.

I think Calgary will come out hard in their own barn, but I'm skeptical as to how much of a difference it's going to make. Let's be honest, the Wings not only beat Calgary in the first two games, they dominated them.

Anaheim and Minnesota have been playing really tight games and Anaheim just took a 3-0 lead in Minnesota's barn -- where they have been really good all season.

The Wings have a ton of momentum. 51-15 in shots last game. That's ridiculous and I'm thinking it will carry over to the Saddledome. Calgary has been absolutely flat. I mean, we all thought they'd come out flying in Game 1 and they didn't. Then we thought they'd be different today. They weren't. It's obvious there's a bigger issue here than what arena they are playing in.

Now I'm going to knock on wood.

Those are some big words for it only being game 2, both of which were home games might i add.

Also: see 2001

this series is looking much better than 2001. CGY does not HAVE A CLUE. they are going nowhere. theyre all words, no play. im not thinking about a sweep, but i sure aint thinking about them winning 4 out of 5 games either.

A great win!

I didn't realise CBC stood for Calgaryian Broadcasting Company, terrible homerism, especially in the first two periods.

Schneider is awesome. Man,he hits almost as often as Kovalchuk. Love it.

Good to see Dats perform in the playoffs. Now that I think of it,there was really no reason why he couldn't do well. I mean,Hemsky's not overly physical and look how he dominated in last years playoffs.

I sure hope you're right.

Guys, this is not 2001. Calgary doesn't have Scott Thomas. ;)

Yeah, I know, it's early. Going into Calgary definitly makes me nervous. A sweep in Calgary is near impossible, and only exists in mythology. If we can take at least one game in Calgary, then come back home and wrap it up in Game 5, then I'll be happy. :)
