Wings3:16 322 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 Even if it doesn't happen, I'm happy that this team made a lot of people shut up about how they can't go far because they're "old and slow", but Anaheim is having trouble keeping up...great effort, very proud of the Red Wings. Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 I wouldn't say I'm excited to have my team be down 3-2... far from it. But here we are. Banking on history, there's a risky proposition, but there's no point in losing hope. A 7-0 triumph may be right around the corner...

DaKineMaui 8 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 Just thought I'd share this in one of these many post-game-5 threads. Got sick of reading them.....so I hollered to the boy in the frontroom (7 YRS OLD).."Hey John - who's gonna win game 6?" "Red Wings dad."........without further prompting........says.........uhhhhh....."3 goals to 1". So there ya go. You may now leave your computer till game 7. You heard it here first, and you can thank him later.
Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 I was trying to pick a thread to post my thoughts after todays game, and my thoughts on what would happen - but i'll just leave it here. Lets hope history repeats itself in this series. I think the Wings deserve a trip to the finals, but if they are to lose in game 6 or 7, I wouldnt NOT be upset with the team this year. Their run thus far has been fun to watch, I just really want it to continue. Thats how this years run differs from others...in previous years we are always 'cup or bust', and I think this year there are so many teams like the Sharks or the Ducks, Sabres or Senators, that are seemingly so powerful that the Wings are a definate underdog in these series. Its fun to watch them continuously overcome things in this post season, and I truly believe they can bring this series back for game 7. Go Wings.

Fingercots 6 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 after watching the game today, i had the exact same thought about 2002. i still remember thinking that the wings were screwed after game 5, having to win in colorado and then back home. the wings have done it before and they can do it again. win 2 in a row and carry that momentum into the finals! Yzermania19 1 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 Its not over till the fat lady sings. Like in 02 its looked bad before. Take the next game and the wind out of their sails. Got that straight...and I am not even warming up yet. Plus, you really don't want to hear me sing. LOL I can't say I exactly feel good or excited about the Wings losing today - I would much rather see them going to Anaheim with a 3-games to 2 lead, but I am encouraged (yes, that's the right word - encouraged) by the Wings' dominant play today. They were by far the better team and if it wasn't for a late penalty in the third that gave the Ducks the extra man (plus, pulling Giggy put them up by two men) the Wings would have pulled it off in regulation. Then today's hero/goat, Andreas Lilja, coughs up a bad pass that Selanne puts right behind Dom in OT. Flukey, yes, but it still counts. Forget the outcome - the Wings were nearly perfect through 59 minutes of hockey. That is something to build on for Game 6. In addition, there is the almost eerie parallel between this series and the 2002 WCF against the Avs. Really, really strange (Twilight Zone music plays in the background). Our guyes will not give up, rember it is best of 7!

shadow47 1 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 Both games fell on my birthday, May 20th, ruining my party. Like the rest of you, I also noticed this, both games the DET D let the opposition's best player (Forsberg/Selanne) have a breakaway in OT, and both times they scored on the same side with Dom doing the same basic move. *sigh*
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 Everyone seems pretty confident this will happen. While I do encourage positive thoughts, don't count your chickens before they hatch. It hasn't happened yet. I sure hope it does happen though. Go Wings!
Wings_Rule_1010 4 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 This thread is almost making me feel semi-optimistic. I would love for this series to mirror that of the Avs one of 2001-2002.
kylee 727 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 i just want to say right now, that no matter what happens tuesday night , i am so proud of this Red Wings team. so many players have stepped it up this post-season that i never would have thought (Lilja, Sammy, Cleary) and they have proved so many people wrong, now in no way is this some kind of softening - of - the - blow statement, but Red Wings, you guys have played great thus far, keep fightin!
