new england comes close with moss, stallworth, welker.

I think Detroit could use a receiving TE. Someone along the like of Witten, Crumpler to add to the mix.

Chris Cooley FTW

OK, any faith I had in this Lions team is muted now. I didn't really expect them to beat Arizona on the road, but if they did, I would be ready to fully get behind them. But you just can't lose to bad teams if you want to be considered a serious contender.

Those are the good ole Lions we know and love. No way this team gets 10 wins. No way.

Pittsburgh also lost at Arizona. Im not saying we shouldnt have beaten them...but s*** happens. As long as we continue to win our home games and win in Minnesota, thats all that matters. This was one of those losses i expected, cant win in Az just like in Washington...no biggie. Now if we lose against the Giants next week, then we may be in trouble. This one is must win...im confident!

Really? The Packers were lucky to play them in Week 2 when things weren't going their way. GB destroyed them in New York 35-13, but since that game they won their next 6 matchups. They just lost to Dallas, but the Cowboys are probably the best team in the conference. Even though the Packers have already beat the Giants I wouldn't be 100% confident if they played them again. With that, I don't understand how Lions fans can feel that way.

I agree with you on this one. The Giants are a very tough team and no way are they a pushover. The winner of this weekend's game "should" make the playoffs at least as a wild card along with Dallas and Green Bay. The loser gets thrown right in the mix and if it's the Lions, I am not sure they would still come out of it with the wild card. This is a huge game for the Lions this weekend, not to mention just a huge week period with a short turn around before the thanksgiving day game.

If the Giants roll us up like their NFC East brothers have, it won't bode well for the rest of the second half of the season. The Lions don't want to go into a tailspin right before the huge game against the Fudge Packers.

Oh I'd be 100% confident if GB plays the Giants again. They're the most overrated team in football. Everyone was slurping them because they won six in a row, but four of those wins were against: Jets, Falcons, 49ers and Dolphins. In a row. I mean, that's like 4 of the 5 worst teams in the league. New England would win those 4 games by roughly 200 points and I'm not sure that's an exaggeration. What the Packers did to them wasn't a fluke. And GB has gotten better since then. Everyone keeps talking about their DEs, but it's actually Kampman and KGB who are the NFL's leading duo in sacks now....

It was a joke the way the media was discussing who was the best team in the NFC: The Giants or Dallas. I mean, I could be wrong, but GB has a better record than one of those teams, against a tougher schedule, and beat them by 3 TDs on the road. Can you say, East Coast bias?

If I was a Lions fan, I wouldn't be 100% confident in a win this week, but the Giants are a VERY beatable team. Plus the Lions are much better at home than they are on the road. I guess this one depends on the OL. If they can give Kitna any time to throw, they'll win. If Umeniyora (or however the hell you spell it) starts getting into the backfield constantly, then it's going to be tough.

The Giants are a fraud imo. For everyone that says the Lions havent beaten anybody (which i wont argue), 4 of the Giants wins have come against the 4 worst teams in the league....San Francisco, Miami, the Jets, and the Falcons. Only one of their victories is a quality one, and that was at Washington. I believe Green Bay would roll the Giants if they played again, especially at Lambeau, thats a not a team you should fear. All it will take is two losses in a row for that team to fall into their yearly Coughlin turmoil again.

Are you going to stand by those statements if the Lions don't come out with the win this Sunday?

I disagree with you Lou. Giants make the playoffs as the top wild card team. They have a good chance of winning their wild card round game. But I will agree with you that if the Giants go to Dallas or Green Bay, they will not win that game. NFC Championship will be Dallas and Green Bay with the home team winning.

I think whichever NFC wild card team that gets to play the winner of the NFC South stands an excellent chance of winning. I don't see NYG or Detroit (assuming they don't come back to win the division) beating Seattle in Seattle, not that I really think they're any good either.

The giants are a team that frankly, even after 9 games, we don't really know how good or bad they are. They've beaten Washington, Philly and 4 doormats and they've lost to Green Bay and Dallas twice. I know the Packers beat the hell out of them. I know Eli Manning isn't real good. And I know they've got issues with their back seven on defense.

Manning is tied for second in the league in picks, so it'd seem reasonable that the Lions are a tough matchup for him, based on the fact they've been feasting on turnovers this year. And IF the Lions can block anyone, they should have some mismatches in the secondary.

It was a joke that anyone mentioned the Giants in the "Class of the NFC" discussion. They're not a bad team, but they really don't scare me whatsoever.

Absolutely. To me that will be more an indictment on the Lions not being for real and on the verge of tanking than the Giants being good.

Way to go McDonald. Kitna absolutely blew the previous possession with a bonehead throw, but McDonald blew the game on that play. And what the f*** was up with that on purpose fumble...that one very nearly stayed in bounds.

Well, all i can do now is hope that i was wrong about the Giants. If not, we're going 7-9 and getting asses handed to us by Green Bay Thursday.

Its a good thing we have Troy "fair catch" Walters and Aveion Cason as our returners though. I mean, is there anything more consistent than these guys? Cason will always get you between the 16 and 25 yd line every time, and Walters will give us the ball wherever he catches it!

Will somebody please explain to me why TJ Duckett is never used on short yardage situations? Why the hell is he even here! Its kinda the Wings having Downey and not playing him against the tougher teams. Whats the point?

Exactly what I'm wondering. Their playing Jones the whole game, and it's clear as day he isn't getting done, much like the rest of the team.

Terrible game. We shouldn't have lost to the Giants. They are a horribly overated team (Lou, I know you changed your thoughts, but I'm staying put), and the Lions failed to capitalize all game long. It's really pathetic when Jason Hanson is the teams best player. Not taking anything away from him, because he is a great kicker, but the kicker should not be the guy scoring the majority of points for the team. The offense needs to start getting things done. That means not dropping passes all the time.

One other big irk with me today was the offensive line. How many times did Kitna get sacked today? I counted at least 5, and there was probably more. I don't know what was going through their heads, but they looked terrible today. Guys were getting by them left and right.

I knew this season was too good to be true. Yes, we are still above .500, but it's entirely possible the Lions lose every game for the rest of the season, and finish at 6-10. They have a history of collapsing big time on the Thanksgiving game, so it wouldn't surprise me if that does happen again this year.

Thursday's game will a tough challenge for sure. The Lions always struggle against Green Bay.

Since we don't have a NFL thread and I am too lazy to create one, I will just post my comment here and have someone either comment or not.

Can someone tell me why these New England Patriots aren't the greatest nfl team ever? This team is just steamrolling everyone they run into this season.

I havent changed my thoughts on the Giants...i also still believe theyre very overrated. I just said im hoping im wrong about them, cause if im not and this was as bad a loss as i think it is....we're DEAD and will get spanked by Green Bay.
