Should Pavel and Hank stay on the same line?

Rate this topic

As of right now - you bet they should stay together.

I'm all for rolling as many offensively threatening lines as possible, but a top line so good (Z-P-H) is such a force that I cannot help but demand that it be unleashed on the unsuspecting charlatans on other teams.

Oh yeah, and they're awesome together, too. :cheesy:

I'll admit i was one for splitting them up and making us deeper, but screw it, theyre just too good together

I was thinking they should too at first, to bring more balance to the lines...but it's something that shouldn't be seperated. Just like Lecav/ St. Louis, Heatley/Spezza/alfredsson etc.

Yes.

Having Zetterberg and Datsyuk on the same line will force guys like Hudler to step it up with more minutes. Plus, those two have chemistry that you just can't find anymore.

They need to stay together. They are, by far, one of the most dynamic scoring tandem's in the league. If Zetterberg stays healthy, he could easily top 100 points playing with Datsyuk.

I said this all through the off-season, and people gave the whole "putting all your eggs in one basket / teams putting their top defenders out against them" spiel. People were so quickly to forget that when the DZH line was dominating, they WERE playing against top defensemen and defensive forwards. Theyre still just that good. Keep them together for as long as we can. They'll tear it up and give us a chance to win every night.

Are we really talking about what pace guys are on after three whole games?

As for Pavel and Z, it's great to watch them together, but through the course of the season the Wings need to figure out some other line combos so we actually have two scoring lines come playoff time.

Otherwise it'll be like this last playoffs. Dats and Z will be good at home, but prone to getting shut down on the road as the opponent matches lines against them.

We need another legitimate scoring threat, whether that's them separated, or by bringing in a sniper.

EDITED: to say "Pavel and Z" instead of referring to Datsyuk both times.

Im pretty confident well be seeing at least a mid-level splash to add a name up front. The Wings Brass has to do something to gets some good press, cause these attendance stats just arent gonna cut it. Illitch will do something to make the Wings exciting again.

Yes. Everyone saw it last winter how awesome they were together. I was hoping for it this year. I'd stick with it. If we are having trouble scoring, due to an unbalanced roster, we can split them up. But I'd use this like the gift it is, and run with it.

I say keep them together... they are god like. Wings need to trade for a 2nd line center... because Z and Dats on seperate lines is deeper but it doesnt work as well. I would love to see Demitra here at the deadline if the Wild tank... or i mean theres always those forseberg rumors...

No, but i would put flip on first line center.. put datz on the wing.. since that seems to be where he is comfortable..

move franz down to 3rd line. put draper back at center where he belongs..

if that wouldnt work then yes.. but i think splitting them up is good.

No, and um NO

Ice time, between PP, PK and regular shift they log way too much ice time. They'll be spent by Christmas. Split them up and they should round out ice time due to having a longer break and not going out every other shift.

The other three lines haven't scored and probably think they all are checking lines.

The reason they were split for the Ducks game is to make the Ducks pick who size=2]pronger[/size] was going to play against. Granted everyone is haveing a hard time stopping them regaurdless who it is.

They are both playmakers and if split they will help the youngins gain much need confidence.

Predictions, my friend, don't mean very much. Paul Stastny was on pace for 264 goals last weekend. In just one games time, that dropped down to 109.

Hey, that was a copyrighted NFM#25 statement! :P

Yeah, but we all saw what happened to Stastny as well. The guy was on pace for 246 goals after the first game and now he's only on pace for 109 goals. Gofigure

QFT

This is why I've been saying signing a guy like Forsberg would be just what the Wings need. If you put guys like Franzen and Hudler ono either side of him, that line would bang out some points, and it would bring some balance to the top two lines. The drop between the D-Z-H line and the second line is well beyond what the normal talent drop off is in the NHL.

Don't get me wrong, I was as sick as anyone with the thought of Forsberg coming to the Wings, but right now he could be had for a reduced salary, but more importantly without giving up any draft pick/player compensation. Couple that with a solid UFA at the deadline and all of a sudden our offense looks pretty d*mn scary.

I say keep 'em together. If the 2nd line or 3rd line doesn't start produciong then it's time for a trade. Maybe Mike Richards? or someone like him, just a true 2nd line center with decent scoring 60 pts or so a year.

When we split them up, we can't get any scoring done 5 on 5. At least when we keep them together, we can generate offense from that one line. In the 1st two games, splitting them up didn't help the other players on the team to generate any offense. If the other guys have to step up, then so be it.
