Grittzkey 1 Report post Posted February 3, 2008 (edited) I have not been on in a while. But there is no better way to return than this thread. When I found out about such I went nuts. I really hope that Darren can get back with the Wings and if not, I just hope he can get his life back to the way it was. We all felt the same way http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2008/02/mc...nt_with_as.html Edited February 3, 2008 by Grittzkey

redwing_sparty 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 i was listening to some detroit sports program last week and they said that McCarty had signed a 25 game tryout with grand rapids. He'd be a nice pick up for the playoffs w/o having to spend much money at all.

That said I am pulling for him to make it back into the league one day.

Guest octopusdank Report post Posted February 4, 2008 what is everyone so worried about? i thoroughly believe theres nothing to lose from signing him. think of the grind line!!! even if he didnt produce offensively you know hes willing to straight f*** someone up and we need that. i think if he comes back he'll have the heart of a lion because itd be "all on the line" for him and he'd have nothing to lose

He's only been playing hockey what, a couple months now? I'm so glad he's getting his act together and that there's even the potential for him to crack an nhl lineup again. But it would take a miracle for it to happen this season. I'm not worried though, no matter his history, if Mac were to get a shot on the Wings again, it would only be if he absolutely has earned it. Otherwise it would be a waste of a valuable roster spot. Right now it's just cool he's playing in the AHL for the Griffins. Hopefully he keeps improving and stays healthy. Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 I think Mac could possibly have a limited role with the Wings. I dont think he'd be an everyday player, and he's getting old. But we know he has the talent, he seems to have the will, and I'd never count him out. If nothing else, he skates a lot better than Downey.
CrossCheck24 2 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 NHL.com article The minute I leave Cleveland, something worthwhile happens there.... Good for him though, I can't image the roar of the crowd if/when he steps out onto the ice in a winged wheel

JackMallory 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2008 Perhaps this is shallow and short-sighted on my part, but I'd love to see McCarty back in Detroit this year if for no other reason than to pound Pronger into a heap. The hate continues..... The so-called tough guys that the Wings have now will not be enough come playoff time against Anaheim.

auxlepli 17 Report post Posted February 5, 2008 McCarty might be able to make it back in time for the playoffs. It was 11 years ago so maybe the conditioning wasn't as good but Joey Kocur was in a beer league at Christmastime, but on the Wings championship team in 1997. Grittzkey 1 Report post Posted February 5, 2008 can you imagine this 4th line in the playoffs going agasint calgary?anaheim?san jose. Drake-Kopecky-McCarty. Drake and McCarty i have a feeling with them together, They would both have tons of fun just smashing people.. and Kopecky just pitching in like he already does. Bye Bye Downey. Go Hit Yourself In The AHL.
