Dominator2005 558 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 You really don't think McCarty will be with the Wings by the end of the season, Matt? He's not going to score some goals... but he will bring so much needed emotions on the ice... can't be worst than Sammy... or Drake (even this was his best game so far this season...) ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 i think it really shows how unbelivably precious Cleary, Rafalski, and Kronvall are to this team. Also shows we need another winger (to make up for Sammy's s*** play) and another d-man.
russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 I dont think we will make many moves. I would consider deadline day successful if we send Sammela to the glue factory. I agree, I think they will acquire a big defenceman who is a depth defenseman, not a big name guy like blake, as well as some scoring depth, not a guy like Sundin. Holland has said he doesn't want to mortgage his future, and I think that he will stick to that.

Vilmer 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 Yet again, a marvelous performance by Pierre. He just loves to see the Wings in a funk doesn't he. If any of the Wings read/post on this forum please take the time to fire a puck with some mustard on it at the space between the benches next time on NBC. THE SKID ENDS AT SIX. LeftWinger 5,153 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 ...well if you ask me the Wings better start dealing right now! They officaially need 2 scoring forwards (Fedorov Sundin/Hossa) and a bruising d-man (Foote/Stuart) possibly a goalie. They have officailly been the worst team in the NHL in the month of February, they are threatening to allow teams to catch back up to them. Hell Dallas had a four point swing today. Tomorrow they hace Colorado who they beat last time but they look crappy doing it! Were are officially tanking, our guys are tired, they are losing. If this keeps up, it'll be an early summer for the guys (1st round loss.) ...as of right now the only untouchables on this team should be Lids/Zetts/Dats/Holm. Everyone trade bait. This is about winning not about loyalty, loyalty doesn't win championships anymore. Sure, we shouldn't really panic, but I am pissed off. This team has played like crap for three and a half straight weeks and to lose 6 games in a row?!?! ...I say open the flood gates up, if these guys don't want to win, then get some players who do! Problem is, at the beginning of February we held the trump card on any trade we were seeking beause we weren't in dire need for anyone, except some depth. Now, on the other hand, we desparately need some players to stop the bleeding and other teams know this, now they hold the hand that trumps us! If we wanted Sundin, it would have cost us a roster player, a couple of prospects and some picks, now it'll cost us Roster player's, TOP prospects and first round picks. Holland won't be able to do anything without raping our future. If this bleeding doesn't stop by the deadline and prices go up (like we know they will) I say stand pat with what we got, back into the playoffs, get swept in round 1 and then look forward to July 1st... ...CNN reports that the Dow Jones in down, the NASDAQ broke even, the price for crude oil hits $100 and Fedorov will now cost Hudler/Filpulla/Kronwall/Ericsson and 2 first round picks. We'll be in Iraq for 100 years and there is no end in sight!
adtthosa 5 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 I've always liked Pierre Maguire and typically he praises Detroit's style and skill. I don't know what his problem has been lately though but he seems to be wanting us to lose. Whatever. Bit of a tough pill to swallow today, at least Howard was great. Gotta take the good with the bad. I look at it this way, once we get over this slump we will be much better off than if we just continued to keep winning straight through to the playoffs. It's a good test. I'm definitely not enjoying it though...

datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 didn't get to see the game today, but it looks like more of the same. this team is ridiculous. our longest losing streak since 91?? and before this we had 60 wins in our sights? wow, this is unbelievable. i know holland won't do a damn thing before the deadline (why the f*** didn't he do anything in july?!?!?!). doesn't sound like they put much effort forth again. i thought the lazy wings had left with the absence of schneider and lang, but it looks like people have decided to pick up their slack. i just don't see how a team can play like the wings did the first half of the season (by far the best in the league) and play like they are now (maybe the worst in the league). teams know if you push the wings to the outside and forecheck hard they're powerless. we have no answer. the puck-possession skill thing works great when you have tons of skill (i.e. 2002). the wings don't have the skill they used to. they need to adapt. i really can't see them going far in the post season with the roster as it is. If you didn't see the game, maybe you shouldn't make comments like you did. The Wings looked fine today and gave up a lone tough rebound goal. If the situation had been reversed people on LGW would be praising them for their solid defensive play and how things are coming around. God I hate this site when the Wings aren't winning.
