awingsincebirth 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 I'm officially frustrated. We're so weak mentally right now. Turco got in our head early when we were pouring it on, and then we just folded up. Out boys need to do some soul/mind searching and get back that headstrength that we had earlier in the season. Zetterberg, Datsyuk, not near good enough. I'm officially ready for Holland to make a serious play for Sundin. Great game from Howie tho, the future within the pipes looks bright.

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 we could very well be the worst team in the league right now. Well, we lost to Toronto and L.A. so the Wings get my vote.
Chase 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 Pretty good game by us, Howard was awesome but Turco was amazing. I would not have been upset with this loss, but since its our 6th in a row I am upset about it. We need Rafalski/Kronwall/Cleary back badly.
jim3033 1 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 I'm in a s***ty ass mood now. When is the last time the Wings lost 6 in a row.... Someone said not since 1991!!!!!!....!!!!!
Ziggy Stardust 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 What the hell is going on! 6 losses in a row? We had 40 wins in 54 games or something, and suddenly we have 6 straight losses?
dallas27 7 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 (edited) The puck was on edge. I'd like to see you hit that clean. Seriously people, I understand the frustration, but let's not go overboard with ridiculous claims. I agree. They actually played an amazing game compared to the last 5. Just couldn't put the puck in the net, Turco played great, hit some posts. Just like golf, some days the ball just doesn't drop in the hole, nothing you can do. Howard played fantastic. That's exactly what he needed to showcase to Babcock and the brass. *edit* I personally think they are losing to get under the radar a little Edited February 17, 2008 by dallas27
elriqo28 2 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 wow the whole f*cking team sucks! Good job Howard keeping them in the game for 59 minutes.
sixer 37 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 Woh. Turco with an amazing game. Wow. It's funny what a top notch goalie does for ya! Although today goaltending was not our problem obviously, we need to score a goal! Hopefully Howard plays Monday night!!!
J-Swift 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 The puck was on edge. I'd like to see you hit that clean. Seriously people, I understand the frustration, but let's not go overboard with ridiculous claims. Yes, that's correct. The notion that Draper whiffed on the shot is indeed a ridiculous claim. I've held off of slamming Samuelsson lately, but he was really tough to watch today. Losing Cleary has given him a lot of even-strength time, and losing Rafalski has put him on the top PP-unit. Those injuries have really exposed this team's lack of depth.

Hopefully Howard plays Monday night!!! Jesus Christ...He has played in three games in a row and the next game is tomorrow. It would be unwise to play him, he will be fatigued. RedWingsFanatic 4 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 I have never been more confused and angry than when I saw Mikael Samuelsson out there at the end of the game. He plays terribly for 59 minutes, and they stick him out there for the last one. I just, man. I have no words for the bewilderment of that decision. And, of course, he makes himself look even more useless with the way he performs. He can't make a pass, he can't keep the puck in at the point. It just infuriates me that he is given a free pass and, really, rewarded for playing like such a jackass. Un-*******-real. Other than that, I thought the Wings played pretty well today. This six-game losing streak, the first since '91, is not fun, though. And, unfortunately, it doesn't really get much easier from here. I'm normally very optimistic about this team, but I do think they are in trouble right now. There is obviously something that hasn't been clicking over these past few weeks. Hopefully getting Rafalski and Kronwall back will ease the pain a bit, and then whoever we decide to pick up at the deadline. Right now, though, this team worries me. I also want to point out my disgust with the NBC broadcast team today. I am normally a huge supporter of NBC and I typically think they do a top-notch job, but their constant bashing of the Wings today was unncessary and annoying. Pierre McGuire, who I had been able to put up with until today, was just brutal. I miss the days of Thorne and Clement. Anyway, the team moves on. This losing streak sucks, but we can end it tomorrow.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 How much longer do we have to see Sammy on the point on the PP?
drewicho 1 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 All right, it's obvious that we're missing Rafalski, Cleary, and Kronwall. That said, depth should be a major concern now that we're seeing very little scoring from our guys. We need a trade. It's crystal clear. Last year when Scheider went down it eventually really hurt us. I don't know where the help is needed more--physically on the back end or up front. But we can't waste this season. This losing streak may be a blessing in disguise (better now than in April). Trade Hudler, a first, and Meech for Sundin. And then pick up a tough defenseman to replace what we lost in Danny Markov. Oh, and call up Darren McCarty. We could REALLY use that boost.
savaking72 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 Sammy out at the end? Really Babs? Un. be. lievable. My sentiments exactly. You saw at the very end how he tried to stick handle around 2 of the star's D. He should have put in deep. instead it ends up on the other side of the ice. Besides the slump we're in, I see only 2 problems. Sammy, and Hudler. Sammy is just a waste of space, and Hudler is about 30 pounds to small. I say trade them both for Federov! awingsincebirth 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 As bad as we have been playing, its hard not to notice the fact that we have been getting NO BOUNCES. Right now, we can't catch a break; a shot of the defenses stick or skate, a weak goal of any sort. I guarantee you that once this team scores one fluke goal, we'll snap right out of it. THe problem is that you start losing, and it starts to seem more and more impossible that you'll ever win again. A fluke goal will restore a mound of confidence I think. WE WIN TOMORROW NIGHT. O ya, that Samuelsson guy isn't very good, has anyone noticed this??? I don't know how this guy manages to escape so much criticism on these boards

This losing streak sucks, but we can end it tomorrow. "Lucky Pierre" was getting on my ******* nerves today constantly jabbing the Wings for how bad and nervous they are. Is there any reason to make that comment once every 5 ******* minutes? He was worse than those stupid CBC announcers in Western Canada. He sounded like he had Modano's balls in his mouth the whole game.
J-Swift 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 Pierre McGuire, who I had been able to put up with until today, was just brutal. I've always stuck up for McGuire, but you're right, today was absolutely terrible. He managed to insult virtually every aspect of the Detroit Red Wings today. It's hard to believe we're still actually first in the league the way he was talking.
Dominator2005 558 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 :nonono: I just don't know anymore... Can't win if you don't score! Jimmy, Mule, & Drake (suprisingly) played well though.Atleast it wasn't a massacre like Friday. I think that this is the best game this season from Drake. Jimmy was/is amazing - great talent It's a good thing to have this kind of slump at this stage of season. We NEED to keep Zetterber, Datsyuk and Homer together - that's only off. that we have. We could really use some 2nd line scoring (Hossa and Jokinen might be too $$$ but I would ask about Ryder, Malone, Vermette, Tuomo Ruutu, Stoll...) and stay at home def (big, strong, mean...), not need to be Zdeno Chara but Foote, Erskine, Jackman should work out... wings_fanatic 677 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 My god people, quit frickin whinning! This is a classic slump... we have a a lot of bad games, then we play good (today), but still don't manage to find the back of the net... which sets up for the next game where they dominate. Don't believe me? Well, too bad for you... look at the Islanders... they had the same pattern, then they went to win their next game.... Plus, tomororw I believe I read Rafi will be playing... which will make our top line better... (and powerplay). So quit worrying... I bet anything the Wings destroy the Avs tomorrow... I am willing to say 4-0 wings... But honestly, all of you guys ragging on the wings for "being the worst team in the nhl" clearly dont know what you are talking about, and you are basically turning your back on them just becasue they are in a little slump. Calm down and understand they are playing without 2 of their top 4 defenseman, without their main secondary scorer, and without Dominik Hasek... once they all come back (will be friday except for cleary)... they will be back to their old ways... So, have faith, wings showed they are still good (played a good game today) and I bet any money they will perfect their game tomorrow and beat the avs...
