The Rebirth of the Wings and Avs rivalry ?

Haha. I would like very much to see Colorado get the eighth seed. Saclik and Stastny will bring more to the team but I think we would pwn them in a 4 to 5 game slaughter.

EDIT: grammar

Not quite back yet, but playoff matchups are where rivalries are really established I think. As much as I think people here go extremely off the deep end focusing on the Ducks sometimes, it's pretty impossible to deny that the water is a little warmer when the Wings-Ducks play, esp. from their last two regular season games.

I want to see Edm vs Vanc in the playoffs :).

I would fear an Ana vs Det matchup alot more than a Det vs Col matchup in the playoffs, which tells me that Anaheim is right now the bigger rival. I don't hate anyone else on Colorado other than Laparierre...and I couldn't stand him when he played for the Kings either. Love to have him on my team though.

Stop cheapening what was the greatest rivalry in sports in the last 20 years or maybe more. What made it great is that both teams were unbelievably talented and were the best teams in the game of that era (and maybe any era). When they played there was no doubt championships would be determined. ONE OR THE OTHER WAS PRETTY MUCH GOING TO WIN THE CUP. What made that rivalry was the best ******* hockey you could ever ask for. This is not even close. Please, quit acting like a bunch of excited little ***** school girls, have some God Damn respect and quit calling any stupid little tussle anything close to THE rivalry.

How's that for "Discuss"? (which is really annoying - don't you know that people who write "discuss" in the work environment are considered useless wankers?)

Holy crap who s*** in your cheerios.

Living the dream I hope I never see you post "it is a discussion board and people can post their opinions" because you have lost all right to say that with that post. BTW just because someone may be at work when posting doesn't make this a workplace environment. Case in point how often do you see the word pwned in the business world.

However I agree with you, the Avs Wings games were usually about championships and had physical play. If every team the wings played against in a physical game was considered a rivalry every team would be a rivalry because that is how everyone tries to beat the Wings.

This Avs team pales in comparison to the Avs teams from the rivalry. But that is what spoils us Wings fans. We are so used to being on top that we forget that like the Avs, even the Ducks rivalry will fade, because most teams can not stay as competitive as the Wings, and can't keep a rivalry strong. Usually the key players leaving or one team remaining elite and the other falling off kills the rivalry.

Rivalry restarted we will see, but one thing I saw in this game that has been missing for a long time, and it pretty much happened when Lids got hit was the passion and the fire, when Downey pummled that butt wipe I saw a differant Wings team on the ice more jump, more speed, more desire and a team that may have moved to the next level keep it rolling boys keep it rolling.

Get Back soon Lids you have a cup to win!

No...it's still over. The hit on Lidstrom was enough for some in-game retribution, but not carryover retribution.

I hope you're wrong. From now on we should run Lappy and Sakic each time we play them. I figured they'd get the message after that s***bag Steve Moore ran Naslund, but I guess their organization isn't smart enough to understand it.

No.

The Draper hit was a major factor in the Avs rivalry, but the rivalry was mostly because of the road to the Stanley Cup. Both teams were powerhouses. If Detroit wanted to get to the Cup, they had to go through the Avs and vice versa.

Right now it's too lopsided to really be a heated rivalry again.

Let's not be silly about this. Advocating running Sakic is absurd. If you want to complain about lack of respect for Lidstrom and advocate running Sakic we have a word for that, "hypocrite". I'd love to see our old rivalry but we don't need to resort to pure thuggery. I'd settle for another sound whupping for Laperriere.

And lets leave Steve Moore out of this. We don't need to rehash that hit or what came after for the millionth time.

It was a good game. But I still gotta go with the Ducks as our arch-rivals at the present time. A series against the Ducks intrigues me more than one with the Avalanche.

I'll have to agree with you on that one. Unless this game sets the groundwork for next year?
