akustyk 84 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 lol. I am surprised they fit him in under the cap! Jesus is overrated. he hasn't done anything really great past his rookie season. and it's been a good couple of years since then he's been pretty invisible recently

hak 21 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 Im shocked, why would they say he wasnt coming back and then comes back? who are they? forsbergs agent said it was unlikely for him to return to the nhl. noone said he wasn't coming back for sure - just speculations

cboth686 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 My strategy against Peter Forsberg: a) Hide all the Icy Hot from the Avs dressing room. b) Every time my player has a shot, shoot at his feet. c) Pay off a security guard to ram his foot in a doorway.
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 all right, I originally defended the guy when he said he wasn't coming back because he wasn't healthy enough. But now he either miraculously healed, or he was being a primadonna/playing teams against each other. Floppa is a great player, but reaffirms what a douchebag he is too. kylee 727 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 i am quite surprised by this. but in an ironic way, im kinda glad he signed with the Avs again. maybe this ole rivalry thing really is being rekindled. (one can hope!) the only unfortunate thing is that i think the Wings are already done playing the Avs this regular season. but there's always playoffs

DRW Dominance 255 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 I wonder how soon he can play. I also didn't realize that Colorado is 4 points out of the playoffs. Possibility of a 1st round match up with the Wings. If healthy Colorado and Forsberg could be pretty good.

But now he either miraculously healed, or he was being a primadonna/playing teams against each other. Floppa is a great player, but reaffirms what a douchebag he is too. I don't get it. You really think he was playing teams against each other? Why do you think that? When & where has he said that he wasn't coming back? Or do you mean when his agent said it was unlikely with a return? I'm not sure what he has done wrong. Care to enlighten me? Most of what I've read from people bashing on him on message boards is just BS and based from speculations.. And of course lots of homer biased hatred In my viewpoint it's posters and media and speculations who has been stirring things up regarding forsberg. You think I'm crazy? o.o
alienanxiety 23 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 This bulls*** needs to stop. Selanne, Neidermeyer, Forsberg - if these ******* can't hack the rigor of a full season, then they should retire. Solution: You MUST be on an NHL roster as of Nov 1st to play that season. And move the trade deadline to the first week of January. Rental players are a joke. Half-season players are a joke. And Forsberg's case, playing only in the playoffs is the biggest joke.

It's just embarrassing, these guys just walk into the lineup whenever they feel like it and take roster spots off guys who have worked all year to get there and earned their place. Granted they're great players but anyway.

WAY too much season to be played in JAN. it would take the excitement right out of the deadline. The trade deadline and the free agent dates are fine. Where the hell did this come from? You *do* realize that Forsberg has been having his foot checked out by specialists (and had surgery on it) earlier this season, right? All of his work up to this point was just to RETURN to the NHL. He wasn't sitting by the pool sipping pina colatas like Neidermayer and Selanne. At least get your comparisons straight. And move the trade deadline to the first week of January. Rental players are a joke. Half-season players are a joke. And Forsberg's case, playing only in the playoffs is the biggest joke. Ain't that the truth. Nieds and Selanne were healthy all season too - no injury excuses. In my mind it's flat out cheating to rest yourself all season then show up when you're bored to play some hockey. In the mean time other teams have had their top players in the lineup allseason, risking fatigue and injury. I hope Bettman has some ba$$s and puts forth some kind of rule to that effect. Forsberg did it back in 2001-2002 but the guy did have his spleen removed during the playoffs - gotta give him a big pass on that. He at least has the injury excuse. Personally since he self proclaimed "I can't play" a few weeks ago, I just don't see him making any kind of big impact. Will he even make it until the playoffs? Sadly for Avs fans, very doubtful. However, they have nothing to lose. As constituted, they will probably miss the playoffs - so the gamble is worth it and they gave nothing up. Also, they need to sell tickets - the arena is never full (don't listen to what anyone tells you I go to a fair number of their games = empty seats - lots of them). The Avs are hard to figure out. On paper they have Sakic, Smythe, and now Forsberg. Plus guys like Hejduk and Hannan. However, collectively they really suck. I know Sakic has been out much of the season, but Smythe wasn't lighting the lamp much when he was healthy. They just don't have much team chemistry. The best we can hope for is that we cling to the top spot and they slide into 8th. The Wings match up great vs the Avs - and it wouldn't be a bad series to draw first round. RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 They should make players whom take half the year off, with no injury, go through a bidding period where other teams can steal them away. That's a good idea - it could kind of be like a lottery, or something similar to the waiver order. That way if Selanne and the likes want to play hockey that badly, they would have to risk getting picked up by Phoenix or the likes, and not automatically sign with a Cup-contending team. Would be more fair to the whole league....
