ESPN's Mike Greenberg predicts a comeback

TBH, with all the people on LGW talking about next round as if the Wings had officially already moved on, this is actually a breath of fresh air.

Give me a break.

People are justified in saying this series is over, because hey, guess what -- it is. Any fan who's still uttering the "We haven't won anything" mantra is a masochist. Let Lidstrom and co. do the serious talking. We as fans should be relishing this stranglehold.

"Breath of fresh air." Right.

Hey weren't you ready to give up on this team at the deadline, you probably shouldn't be bashing peoples opinions of a team that they didn't bail on when they were still in first place!!

Hey, here's an idea, Opie: read my posts (as, in actually read them) as opposed to pulling your knee-jerk nanny garbage every time I post something remotely negative.

I never once said I was giving up on the Wings. What bothered me -- and will continue to bother me -- is the way Kenny handles certain key matters. Even then, though, that stuff doesn't turn me off to the Wings, just to places like these boards.

But I took a break and now I'm back. Don't spoil my fun.

Don't listen to what ESPN. Over half the stuff the say is not true.

Nail meet head...

These guys make a thousand "PREDICTIONS" a year and act like Miss Cleo when one of them comes true. What's hilarious is the fact some moron pitched this "33 year" thing in a meeting at some point and now ESPN has decided to focus on it.

Sucks for us because both clubs are up 3-0 now so we will have to hear it for at least another few days.

Oh so you can tweak out, take some time off, come back and rip other people's opinions (actually they are facts because the series is not over yet) and you are the one who is in the right.

Gotcha, enjoy your day!!!!!

I recommend staying out of this thread:

I predict that a meteor will strike Australia and infect kangaroos with a type of virus that creates zombie-kangaroos with wings and laser eyes...

Now if and when it happens I will be on the cover of Time magazine.

Ridiculous predictions of impossible situations are low risk, high reward.

Surprised Dumb, and Dumber even talked about hockey. Interesting prediction I guess. I used to love Mike/Mike, but I think all their publicity went to their heads. They are on soaps, commercials, commentators for the AFL, writing books, and a bunch of other stuff they are not good at now.....

It happens EVERY 33 years? Only two teams in the history of the NHL have come back from being down 3 games there was 33yrs between those two events which means the 33 year event has only happened once. So how in hell can someone be stupid enough to say it happens every 33 years? If it should happen again this year then maybe you could bleat about it. Until then its only talking throuh your ass.

I believe it was the intention of the Hockey Gods to have San Jose be that team this year. However, Turco ***** slapped that notion like it was the back of Homer's head, stealing game 6 ending this "33 year" nonsense. In either case I'd think it's Philly that'd have the better chance at coming back but alas neither will happen, though I'd be quite surprised if both ended in sweeps.

At this point it will surprise me if they both didn't end up a sweep.

one goal. one goal is my prediction for all it will take. I think you go in score the first goal of the game and suck the wind right out of the sails. then half the bandwagon fans leave. then you are left with the true stars fans. They root for them to comeback, then maybe they tie it, then Zett and Dats go on ice score at will and steal their thunder again.

Well the main thing is The Wings aren't looking ahead to the Finals, they're a bunch of pros and know the 4th game is the hardest to win. It's our job as fans to get ahead of ourselves and act like a bunch of Homers, and I'm not talking about the Holmstrom kind.

I would give it a shot if the Stars didn't play their best game the other night and still lose, and they pretty much gave up when they went down 4-2. They played very well and the momentum was going back and forth and then all of a sudden one big mistake and Hudler goes down and scores. I hope it doesn't happen, I don't think it will happen but I guess you never know. The Stars are a little banged up. I'm betting Modano and Morrow are not 100%, Modano with the smelling salts late and Morrow's arm(ouch is all I have to say there), the Wings need to try and get this over tonight. As for the comment by Greenberg, he's obviously not watching. This series would have to take a 100 degree turn for it to happen. 33 years doesn't mean anything if the teams down 3-0 aren't playing that well. I could have seen SJ coming back because they played better in game #3 and barely lost and then slowly got more momentum on their side,I haven't seen that with the Stars, and after winning game 4 they had 2 of the last 3 at home. The Wings would get games 5 & 7 at home. It would be amazing if it happened and just plain awful too.

We still haven't played as well as we could. And I dont think we will either. Losing Stu Barnes in game 6 against San Jose to concussion like symptoms did a number on our team. He was our best defensive draw centerman, and plays a huge part in our penalty kill.

We're just a beaten and broken down team rightnow and I hope we can at least pull out one win. I didnt put any stock into the 33 years thing when thats all San Jose would talk about, so Im not going to on this side of it either.

Detroit is the better team and will probably advance. That being said, some of you folks here really need a big slice of humble pie.

So if you were up 3-0, with a 9 game winning streak, you wouldn't be cocky either? And yeah I think Stu being out was a big loss. I think that last loss killed the Stars. Best game of the series and to lose. They just looked like they died after it went to 4-2. And I even though it's all but done there is still a little nervousness in me. I'm pretty humble these days after blowing 2-0 leads in 99 and 01 plus losing early in 03, 04 and 06. And saying that, this is the best overall team I've seen in this city since 97 and that team was nearly unbeatable.

Don't hate Dallas, we did have our humble pie last year and every year that we won the President's Trophy and was oustered in round 1 or 2. It just happens that this year, everything SEEMS to be falling into place (knock on wood).

Yeah, he said that yesterday morning as well. I just blew it off. Greenberg is a moron when it comes to most things.

i can assure you that neither one of the "mike's" know what they're talking about when they somehow amazingly talk hockey on their show. id prefer them to not talk hockey if this is what is going to come from it...

I don't know about the humble pie thing. I mean Detroit was in a similar situation to Dallas last year. We came in played the tougher teams and were worn down. I do think Detroit will win the series, and I believe they will probably take at least 6 to win the cup if they are going to win it, but the humble pie thing is a little ridiculous. Detroit is playing the best they have played in a long time, I think they have a right to be a little cocky.

Did it ever occur to you that Holland is likely slightly more qualified for the position of Hockey Team GM than you are? I ain't saying his s*** don't stink, but your opposition to him in the face of success while also factoring in the probable experience discrepancy between you and him is puzzling.
