Skiing - Puck 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2008 Honestly, I am not a fan of the billboards. MSU should not be shooting there mouths off until we win 5-6 more games in a row, untill then keep some of the other Spartans need to their mouths shut. By the way I was at the LA Tech game, and to make that day worse I was withmy father who is a LA Tech grad.
BuckeyeWingsfan80 209 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 Thats my point about time. You're making it sound like they have been losing forever, and thats FAR from the case. It's a span of barely over a year. App State jokes really don't effect me, and I was saw it in person. People can say what they want, but I truly believe App State would have beat anyone in the Big Ten that day except OSU, but unfortunately it had to happen to us. People can bring up Toledo, App State, and the tide is turning, but we will see who is laughing when Michigan is wearing the jewelry. While there is absolutely no way Michigan stays THIS bad, RichRod has never won any type of jewelry. Expecting him to do so even at Michigan is a bit of a stretch. You are just setting yourself up. You have John Cooper II as your head coach. He'll have some absolutely great teams in terms of talent, but they will find a way to choke a game or two away every year just like his teams at WVU did. WVU also had one of the weakest conferences in college football too. Big East hasnt been the same since Miami and Va Tech left. Anyway on to this weeks games, MSU showed why they are one of the best teams in the nation today. They found a way to win despite giving up a ton on the run and Ringer, was practically shut down. Great coaching today for the Spartans and with 2 more wins, they will win at least a share of the Big Ten. Michigan on the other hand let the Purdue win a game they probably shouldn't have. The only thing Michigan can hope for is a win against Ohio State, which I am rooting for right now.

This one actually has a living breathing offense and I think MSU will struggle to move the ball against them like they did against Ohio State (having been to both the MSU and PSU games that's how I see it). I can actually see Penn State letting down a bit against Iowa, so that game next Saturday might be very interesting so we will see. And while Ohio State's lack of aggressiveness on offense is surely disappointing to me, Tressel usually (assuming no sleet storm like that of last year) has a couple things ready for Michigan week. And since Michigan still can't stop a mobile QB, I think Pryor is going to have himself a Troy-Smith-in-2004 type game. MSU is having their best season in quite some time so this season is already a success, regardless of what happens the next few weeks. I just would love a share of the Big Ten title tho. I wonder what Michigan fans feel about these next 2 games for the Wolverines. I just hope there are still Michigan fans in here. I noticed they have dwindled the past few weeks. I think it's a joke OSU fans label other coaches "John Cooper 2", and are always ripping him. Cooper was a dang good football coach. The numbers don't lie. Yes, his record was horrible against Michigan, but thats his only flaw. Rodriquez has Big East rings, and his teams let Georgia, and Oklahoma have it. You can say what you want about the Big East, and I do agree it is nothing special, but the conference has had some real good football teams, and has had some good coaches come out of it in Rodriquez, Petrino, Dantonio, and soon to be Brian Kelly, Esdall (sp?), and maybe Schiano if PSU wants him. As for the Michigan game Saturday it looks like Rodriquez is already at the crossroads with his defensive coordinator. Thats the risk you take when you hire someone you don't know, and just base it off their previous stops. If there is no change next year I won't be very happy. He was honored during the Penn State game for making the Hall of Fame and it was a strong mixture between "boo" and "Coop". Yeah, he screwed the pooch against Michigan, but he also put together some of the best teams in Ohio State history, including the 1998 team which may have been our best ever. But if you can't beat Michigan, you're pretty much worthless to us.

DickRod will have some great teams at Michigan. But he will blow a game every year while he is there too. That is almost EXACTLY what John Cooper did. Winning exhibition BCS bowls is great, but I THOUGHT (Funny me) that Michigan hired him to win National Championships. He WON'T do that. He'll blow a game against Northworstern or Purdidn't or any of those just like he found ways to lose to Pitt and to Rutgers.

I give props to your old ball coach, and it's snooty? Of course U-M hired Rodriquez to win National Championships isn't that what every single major college football coaches job is? The fact is though it is extremely difficult to win National Championships in football, and you not only have to play great football every week, but you also have to get extremely lucky. Auburn was 13-0 a few years back, and didn't even get a shot at the title. Sometimes the 2 best teams are not even playing in the title game. I'll take a BCS bowl everyday of the week. betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted November 2, 2008 The snootiness? Give me a damn break! I give props to your old ball coach, and it's snooty? They hate their old ball coach. A Michigan fan giving props to Cooper sounds to their ears like a Packers fan giving props to Matt Millen. Winning exhibition BCS bowls is great, but I THOUGHT (Funny me) that Michigan hired him to win National Championships. You thought wrong then. Michigan hired him to win Big Ten championships, with the general expectation that it wasn't going to happen this year. Anyone whose expectation is to win national championships, plural, is setting themselves up for failure.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 Need to plug my school/conference when the general public outside the conference might actually give a hoot to pay attention enough. Thursday evening #11 TCU will be playing at #9 Utah. One of these school's stock will go up in terms of getting a BCS bid if they can win this game. TCU is 9-1 with their only loss coming to Oklahoma. Utah is still undefeated at 9-0. Should definitely be an entertaining game to watch on TV.

timothy1997 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 while I have a hard time believing that anyone seriously thought Michigan would win the Big Ten title this year, I thought they would at least be competitive, finish 7-5 or 8-4..make the Alamo or Sun bowl. I never thought they would lose to Toledo. The only good thing for Michigan is that this program has hit rock bottom for this year and the only way to go now is up. I mentioned before that this team lacked desire. They seriously need to play like a team right now. That is what I am probably the most surprised with the addition of DickRod. I assumed that Michigan would play like a team and at least have a solid defense that would win a few games for them. So far it really has only paid off in the Wisconsin game. I also don't buy into the "only a walk-on" talk either because right now the biggest player for MSU has been a walk on in Blair White. The kid just shows up and plays, working hard for every catch he has. Michigan could use more players like White.
