Slave 31 Report post Posted December 12, 2008 i honestly have no idea how i would react and i hope i never find out, I really HATE pronger though, I don't even cheer for him on team canada, i have this thing where i just can not with any part of my body want this guy to succeed, even b4 the cup with the ducks, even before he bolted edmonton like an assclown, i have never liked this guy, dirty dirty player, reminds me of a bully, some highschool kid who hangs out with junior high kids cuz he is bigger and likes to be the man, i do not think his play style or attitude towards the game of hockey would ever fit in this organization so i am pretty confident we will never have to worry about it. Yes, he's a great defenseman, but there are plenty other great defensemen and so I would never root for Pronger, even if he played for the Wings. I would be seriously disappointed. THe guy is nothing but a dirt bag of the lowest class. It's not like acquiring CHelios because he's not "a guy you hate, but would love to have on your side." He's just a guy to hate. I mean, seriously surprisingly so. He's one of the more articulate hockey players I've heard. He talks about the game but doesn't say the same crap all the time. I've never really heard or seen anything to the contrary where he acts like a total jackass off the ice or with media or fans. I hate the dirty play but he seems like a low-key guy, easy guy to hang out with over a few beers or some lunch or whatever. Him and perhaps Tootoo are two guys I really look down on in the league, yeah I'd be like "What the f**k" just happened if the Wings signed Pronger, but the logo on the front of the jersey is more important than the last name of the back of the jersey, so it wouldn't be all that bad to me and I'd deal with it, given that he is a helluva defenseman despite his dirty antics. I'd wish this to work for the sake of my team but I'd keep on waiting for Wings to get rid of him. truth being said... I think I had enough to swallow with Bertuzzi to get through something like that next time. and Bertuzzi is not even close to the mediocre standards of Pronger. no, I'm not reffering to skill set. I'd be thrilled if the Wings signed Pronger because he is a great hockey player, and he would make the wings a better team. especially if we traded Rafalski for Pronger, who have virtually the same salaries. I was watching the Sharks - Ducks game last night and he is definitely a top 5 defenseman in the league. He was shutting down great scoring chances easily because of his reach and he almost scored a couple times. As much as I hate him, I wouldn't mind having him on my team. YOU DIE!!! That whole "it's physics" excuse (with the elbows) made me want to ralph. I almost got kicked out of my regular bar when he was on TV laughing about the elbows to Homer and McAmmond. I was livid. Physics. Pah! I don't dispute his talent. He has that in spades. I'd rather beat him than have him join us. Let the other team fear him for a change. And like you pointed out, it's not like they haven't had players like him on their roster before. Anyone remember Hatcher? If Lids decides to retire at the end of his contract in 2010, that also happens to be the same time Pronger becomes a UFA. Just sayin'...
