Ms_Hockey 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 A lot of people disrespect hockey. I can't tell you the amount of times I've heard "more people watch blackjack than watch hockey". Though I have a hard time believing that's true, us hockey fans are just going to have to take the criticisms and enjoy our sport.
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 Baseball is the most boring sport in the history of mankind. Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 (edited) You, sir, must not have had to sit through a curling match. Don't forget golf. I love baseball as an American naturally, but I find it painfully boring to watch. Usually it's only fun if you're playing. GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 (edited) Why don't Jeter go suck off his buddy A-Roid and shut his little man hole up. Fact is that baseball is the most boring game ever invented. Also, it turns out that the best players cheat and the best teams cheat also (since there's no salary cap). If the game was fast and exciting, maybe those things wouldn't matter, but it's not. Baseball is like religion in America. People follow it blindly without asking any questions or bothering to judge it for themselves. And for you foreign members who are fortunate enough never to have attended a baseball game, if you go to a game, believe me that isn't any more exciting than what it is on TV. All you'll get out of it is a tan or a mosquito bite, depending on what time of the day you go. Edited March 7, 2009 by GMRwings1983
Shaman 713 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 It was a joke, if you cant take a hockey joke, better crawl into a hole and never turn on tv again. I have heard hundreds of jokes like this one What did the the baseball player dress up as for Halloween? He got a hockey stick and went as an athlete
Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 I think baseball is an exciting sport. We have a lot of minor league teams around where I live so my family always catches games during the season. We've seen Winston-Salem's team, Greensboro's team and Durham's team. The Durham games were great because that's AAA.....one step to the big leagues. I was watching baseball before I was watching hockey. Doesn't mean I like one sport over the other.
b.shanafan14 733 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 I agree, hockey is a real sport with ideal athletes where on the other hand, baseball players are paid much more to sit in a dugout for 3 hours, get up and swing a bat, and half of them need steroids to make it. Apologies to baseball fans, but in my opinion its not a sport, thats why its America's Pass time, passing time is all its good for. I can watch golf for hours, can't watch baseball. Superman54 91 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 I could see how this could aggravate Americans, but us Canadains make fun of Baseball more then any other sport in my opinion.
Rivalred 630 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 Always have to consider the source. Ignorant comments and activities are prevalent lately... I guess CBS thought it would not incite anger towards them.
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 CBS hasn't exactly been relevant to anyone under 60 in decades. Only show I've watched on that network in the past couple decades is Jericho...and that got cancelled. Not worth it.

Cicada 4 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 as i said in the idential thread on HFboards, it was a top 10 list written by Letterman. Letterman is a huge hockey fan, and you often see him supporting the Rangers @ the garden.. it was just a joke

Barrie 900 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 So I'm having a lazy Saturday watching the USA/Canada game of the World Baseball Classic. If you didn't know, last Thursday team USA did the Top Ten list on Letterman via satellite. In between innings, ESPN showed a clip of the players doing the top ten. The topic was, top ten reasons to watch the WBC. And the number one reason, delivered by Derek Jeter, was: "What else are you going to watch, hockey?" :ranting: To me, this is completely unacceptable. Hockey players are the finest athletes on the planet, not to mention some of the nicest guys in the world. Look at baseball players, you sure as hell don't have to be an athlete to be able to hit a 95 mph fastball that arrives in less than half a second. I mean, baseball players spend more time scratching themselves than they do actually playing the game. That's right, I said game and not sport. I'm calling for a boycott of CBS, Late Night with David Letterman, and all of their major sponsors. They need to learn that us hockey fans are not going to take some blatant disrespect lying down! Who's with me?! Maybe you haven't notice, but Letterman is a comedy. He makes fun of everybody.
thedatsyukian 7 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 (edited) Some of the people in this thread really need to think for even just a few moments before posting the garbage you do. First off:It's a joke, this is is an absurd reaction to a very harmless remark. It's actually quite remarkable how little it takes to set people into a hissy fit. Secondly:Like all of the major sports, it takes a great deal of skill in order to be a professional baseball player. Just because it's not constant action like hockey doesn't make it any less of a sport. My favorite sport is hockey by a mile but it only takes a little bit of common sense to realize it takes a great deal of skill and athleticism to play baseball as well. Mickeyisms Rule! 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 Baseball is the most boring sport in the history of mankind. Its weird how most sports get taken up worldwide after theyre invented...hockey, soccer, tennis, golf...yes baseball only exists in America. Cos it ******* sucks. Americans invented baseball because they found that cricket sucked. There are baseball players from Japan, latin America, the US, and Canada. It doesn't exist only in the US, but I can certainly understand if people that don't understand the game find it boring. Personally, I'd rather watch paint dry than watch baseball. Playing it is another story- though sometimes even when playing the game it can be interminably boring. I'd still rather watch a baseball game than watch soccer.
