Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 Sammy doesnt belong on the 4th line. A million years ago Sammy was actually brought in to be a 3rd/4th line grinder/jobber. Then he scored 20 goals. Now he plays the point on the power play. Things got out of hand pretty quickly there.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 Sammy doesnt belong on the 4th line. Well, there's really no 5th line, so at this point there's no other place to put him. Babcock has faith in him when he plays poorly, yet when Sammy scores a goal, he gets put on the 4th line. Ironic.

Things got out of hand pretty quickly there. I lol'd On a serious note - its not such a bad move. Helm has been getting more and more minutes (cos he's awesome), adding Sammy to the 4th line gives it a bit more of a scoring touch (the only thing it lacks). I've not even noticed any Sammy-esque brain-farts with the puck these playoffs. In fact, in game 4 he did a beautiful job at one point hanging onto the puck in the neutral zone whilst we completed an entire line change

Things got out of hand pretty quickly there. We need more right shooters. This is what hurts us most about Ralf's injury IMO. Sammy is basically our last right shooter. RedWings 79 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 Sammy has a good shot And he shoots a lot, and sometimes has good scoring streaks... He seems to be a good playoff performer too. I like the guy, much more valuable than a Maltby for instance

clutchngrab 12 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 Yet strangely Kopecky led all Wings forwards in hits. In the regular season or playoffs? I have to think Helm has pretty much out hit everyone so far in the playoffs except for maybe Dats.

clutchngrab 12 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 He'll be shuffled around you guys know that by now. these lines mean nothing. I could see Babcock mixing up the 3rd and 4th lines pretty regularly based on who is going and who is not. Hopefully he stays with the top 2, though.
Wingsallwin 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 I think these lines look better but what I am questioning now is the reason Samuelsson is on 4th line. No doubt, he has been atroicous throughout the playoff but he is not a type of player who can play on 4th line: playing with much of a grit, go for the PK situation, and fight really hard on the board. I never watched Abdelkader's full game but gotta figure it out. Besides, I think Helm deserves to be on the 3rd line. Hudler and Helm showed good work together last playoff. SaCkaveli20 275 Report post Posted May 10, 2009 I'm definitely excited for the game tomorrow aft. I'm hoping Datsyuk finally shows up offensively. Chelios needs 0 Ice-Time. He's a liability everytime he's on the ice.
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted May 10, 2009 Sounds good, let's hope Datsyuk starts producing, it's been too long since he made good things happen. He's making "good things" happen all over the ice, good things just aren't happening for him.

IrishWing19 6 Report post Posted May 10, 2009 Yet strangely Kopecky led all Wings forwards in hits. Kopecky has 15 hits in the playoffs, behind Helm, Cleary, Hossa, Ericsson, Kronwall, Stuart and Datsyuk.
