Let's "f***" great players based on one playoff that doesn't meet any particular armchair fan's statistical expectations and go after someone else to replace them. Sure, Hossa did have some great playoff games and contributed in other ways and had a great season for us, but we wanted him to score 20 goals in the playoffs, period, and he didn't. Bye, bye!

Following your rule, Federov and Datsuk who both sucked not just in one but multiple playoffs would never have won a Cup with us because they'd have been LONG gone by the time either one helped us win one. Maybe we wouldn't have won any without them, but they'd have PAID for their sucking in the playoffs and if you think about it that's what really matters, making sure a player who doesn't score enough goals in one playoff season PAYS for that.

Oh, and thanks for the list of suggestions of players we could go after who following your zero intelligence, I mean zero tolerance rule, we can dump the first time they don't score 20 goals in a playoff year to make them pay too. Of course none of them would sign with us because we wouldn't have any good players having gotten rid of them the first time they disappointed and they wouldn't sign with us because they would know the first time they disappoint they would be gone, but maybe they sign before they know that and we can make them PAY!!!!

What are the rules regarding the length of contracts? Just for the sake of creating an example:

Could Hossa theoretically be signed to a twenty year deal worth 60 mil in order to take a cap hit of only 3 mil? Front end load it much like Zetterberg's deal and then provided the Wings are in good financial shape they could buy the rest of his contract once his useful days are behind him. After say the first 9 years in Hossa's deal he could earn league minimum in order to make the buy out less painful.

I know this isn't realistic but could this in theory be practiced?

Personally, I hope we can get a tough guy presence on the ice. Abdelkader and Helm hit. I love their energy. Ericsson doesn't take any crap. Leino, not so much. Of the 4 I want to see the first 3 on the roster. Leino has been touted as this great player, but I didn't see near the energy Helm was putting out on every shift.

Take care of your own players before shopping outside, with the exception of Howard. Has his numbers really improved THAT much during his development?

I see $10M available next year after we win the Cup in 2010. Retirement for Lidstrom, Holmstrom and Maltby.

Marion gaborik is going to vancouver and we cant afford him.

Petr Sykora- Sniper, cud score once puck hits his stick.

Ian lapariere- Hard working player, plays hard, detroit cud use something like him.

Ruslan Fedetenko- He cud score, he poses some sort of threat on the ice, not a great finisher though.

Taylor Pyatt- Fast, wins faceoffs

Defence man-

Niklas Havlid- Great positional Defence man fits well with our puck possesion style.

So you guys agree dis agree- Detroit cud pull off a ken holland miracle by getting heatly as it said on sportscenter that thats one of the teams on the list, but theirs about 10-11 on heatlys list, who would probably offer a better deal.

Dont even say we dont want heatly because he cud score and cud benefit off pavels play making ability, i know this is a fragile hope but the guy is a great scorer.

2. sykora WAS a sniper if he was that good of a scorer he wouldnt have been benched

3. we dont want heatley if you hate hossa you will really hate Heatley less defense and a bigger ego

4. we dont need help winning faceoffs we are already on the the best faceoff teams

5. Hossa at 4 > then heatley at 7.5 and then add in the fact that they would want a good number of prospects NTY

If im the sens GM and the wings did want heatley id ask for their 1st rounder, Helm, Big E and either McCollum or Larsson
