Broken 16 381 Report post Posted September 3, 2009 swap Homer for Val and you've got a line, jmo I think I read somewhere that that was one of the possible line projections. Can't wait to see that. Especially if Flip has the breakout year that everyone is hoping for. 2 Mules and a Kid. Can't wait.
NGKEIB 32 Report post Posted September 3, 2009 Bertuzzi is certainly the most exciting new face in our line-up - he has both the highest offensive potential, and also the biggest capacity for a flop. I'm leaning towards the former, and can't wait to see him play. I agree with the above comments regarding his possible linemates. Top two lines anyone? Preseason will tell... Zetterberg/Datsyuk-Zetterberg/Datsyuk-Holmström Franzén-Filppula-Bertuzzi Last two are harder... Helm and Draper will probably both be centres, but it's hard to find suitable wingers. Neither Cleary, Leino or Williams really belong on the fourth line, but none of them are natural centres (as far as I know). I guess Cleary could split time between the fourth line and the first line. Leino-Helm-Williams? Cleary-Draper-Eaves/Maltby Eaves/Maltby
ben_usmc 253 Report post Posted September 3, 2009 I really hope Bert ends up adding to the mystic of the Red Wings in the sense that we turn s*** into diamonds. We resurrected so many careers it would be fantastic if we ended up doing it to someone like Bert who has fallen so far, we believe in you bert!

Though I fear that Maltby won't get much action this year...

Cleary-Draper-Eaves/Maltby Eaves/Maltby Cleary is still improving, and putting him on the fourth line is a step backwards. He should on the second or third line, rotating based on his performance. Also, there should be a lot more balance for ice time now that the second and third line are close in skill. Bert and Cleary should rotate. ZDH Franzen Flip Cleary/Bert Leino Williams Cleary/Bert Eaves-Draper/Helm-Maltby/Helm/Abdelkader I love our depth this year.

34Legace34 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 He played in the last few games of the Euro Can Cup in London, Ontario. It was a 4 team tournament with a London Knights alumni/OHL alumni team vs 3 European club teams. Apparently he looked pretty good, and scored a goal in the finals. titanium2 867 Report post Posted September 6, 2009 Because anything goes when it comes to trash talking between players during a hockey game, you think Bert gets reminded of the Moore incident on every shift he plays during the playoffs or intense regular season games? sureWhyNot 19 Report post Posted September 7, 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mLjYDK2xgk Its called the Todd Bertuzzi! Haha, got a good laugh from that. As for Bertuzzi, at first when we signed him I was impartial, wasn't really upset or filled with joy. But with it sounding like he may be healthy, I have to say I am getting excited - if for nothing else, the thought of what he could contribute if he manages to dodge the injury bug. NGKEIB 32 Report post Posted September 7, 2009 But is that really a fear? I would like this season to be his swan song - is it really likely that he'll get a new contract? It would be nice to see him do a 'Drake' and absolutely give it his all, considering his long years of service to the Red Wings. I actually thought that he played quite well (his standards) in the playoffs.
KDDRWINGS1 9 Report post Posted September 7, 2009 (edited) Zetterberg/Datsyuk-Zetterberg/Datsyuk-Holmström Franzén-Filppula-Bertuzzi Leino-Helm-Williams? Cleary-Draper-Eaves/Maltby Eaves/Maltby ZDH Mule-Flip-Bertuzzi Cleary-Williams-Eaves Leino-Helm-Draper/Maltby Can't wait for season to start, so much competition within team for spots and hopefully they get rid of Maltby (odd man out, love the guy but it's time) and clear space for younger players who haven't maxed out their potential. Even with our loss on offense we have nothing to worry about, this is going to be a great year win or lose. That second line is gonna have some good size, speed, skill, and grit, the exact thing this teams needed for years. Until he scores 30 goals and stands up for Datsyuk in a fight. Then you'll be firmly planted on his beanbag talking about what a great team player he is. You naysayers are all the same. newfy 695 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 Until fights won count as goals, I'll take class any day. Unless you WANT Lidstrom and Datsyuk gone... So you would rather have a team that lies down and doesn't defend itself and scores goals then one that can beat other teams up and beat them on the scoreboard? Thats one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.
