Hockeymom1960 5,107 Report post Posted September 23, 2009 (edited) Homer is the best at what he does and I appreciate all he does for the good of the team. Remember, he has 4 Stanley Cup rings to prove it. FO ShOOOORRE! GO HOMER!!!! Edited September 23, 2009 by Hockeymom1960
Inultus 12 Report post Posted September 23, 2009 I emulated his style of game because like him, I'm a fairly big guy without blazing speed or great hands, but I know how to disrupt, annoy and put the puck in the net when it pops out front. He's awesome at that, well not as much last year, but he was injured a lot.
bonan78 1 Report post Posted September 23, 2009 Thanks to Holmstrom, I now have something positive to associate with the phrase "Demolition Man" Nothing more *** than a Stallone movie with a blond Wesley Snipes.

mmamolo 287 Report post Posted September 23, 2009 I really thnk he still serves a purpose. I dont know why everyone on these forums are so down on him. Granted he isnt what he once was but he still creates space and wrecks havoc on the opposition on the powerplay. I really think a lot of ppl in this forum are going to be surprised at his performance this season.

Jake Ryan 1 Report post Posted September 23, 2009 He has a Red Wings logo tattoo, from what I understand. That actually made me like him a little bit, because I have one too.
Buppy 1,720 Report post Posted September 23, 2009 Prior to his injury last year he had 14g, 16a in 40 games. In the 13 regular season games after the injury he had 7 assists. That translates to 21+ goals, 35+ assists. When he's in the lineup, he's definitely still capable of producing. His playoff production was down, but both his linemates were off as well. Considering Homer's game, and how Pav and Hossa were performing, it's hard to fault him too much for his playoff numbers.

Casey 145 Report post Posted September 23, 2009 He puts his body on the line for the team, 82 games a year. That deserves respect.
Redline 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2009 Jimmy Devellano, Kenny Holland, Jim Nil, Steve Yzerman, Babcock, and the rest of the braintrust seem to believe there is still some game left in him.

Guest CaliWingsNut Report post Posted September 24, 2009 (edited) For the record, I'm not a Holmstrom hater... I just made the previous post for the humor. Edit: or did I? Edited September 24, 2009 by CaliWingsNut
Jedi 1,865 Report post Posted September 24, 2009 Holmstrom is the shiznit. That's it. You're banned. Homer has always been the kind of player that I'd absolutely HATE if he weren't on the Wings. Always screening the goalie, distracting the D, getting in everyone's heads. I'm grateful that the guy who is the best in the league at doing that is a player wearing the Winged Wheel. Stiffy 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2009 Wow, so many homerisms here. Seriously, they called Chelios a "warrior", but Homer certainly fits that description.

Vladifan 680 Report post Posted September 24, 2009 Tomas Holmstrom is a loyal hard-working Detroit Red Wing and consistently works his butt off, each and every night, WITHOUT complaint. He is sheer class and I will always honor him and what he's accomplished. And thanks for starting this thread!
Jake Ryan 1 Report post Posted September 24, 2009 You know what's really crazy is that noone has made the argument that the Swedish Olympic team selects Tomas Holmstrom for their squad, so it's not just the Red Wings upper management that's saying Tomas Holmstrom is worth a roster spot. I don't think Holmstrom is good anymore, but I'm not saying that he wasn't good at one point in his career.
