Cern 0 Report post Posted November 1, 2009 (edited) Just got back from the game. The PP *sucked* and we held back a bit too much in the 3rd, but Ozzie and the D played overall much better than they have earlier - maybe Babcock finally managed to get to them. Datsyuk was an absolutely monster tonight too, he deserved a lot more than the one assist. Also, some great costumes at the game tonight Edited November 1, 2009 by Cern
Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted November 1, 2009 (edited) I loved the Wings game tonight. This is how this edition of the Wings has to play. As for May, I really hope he is alright, that was a nasty accident. Was it Williams stick? It looked like May was in shock a bit at first, and as he was getting helped by the trainer, realized that he was in trouble and kind of freaked out a bit. It looked like he really scrambled to get off the bench. Poor guy - all the best to him. P.S. Eaves play in the last two games = A+ Edited November 1, 2009 by Yzerfan1999
LidsFan 68 Report post Posted November 1, 2009 I hope that May is ok, the team can't lose him too.
Hack & Whack Rule! 160 Report post Posted November 1, 2009 It was great to see a whole team play a whole 60 minutes, tonight. Helm, Datsyuk, Zetterberg all looked awesome. Hell, so did Bert, Eaves, Cleary and Stuart. Hope May is okay, that's a s***ty way to get taken out of a game.

Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted November 1, 2009 If May isnt traveling, its probably pretty serious. I think it's mostly because it's an eye injury so they're going to play it very, very carefully. You're right though-- it doesn't bode well. Get well soon May-- we'll need your grit and fists again next week.

Superman54 91 Report post Posted November 1, 2009 Things I observed being at the game: Stuart played his best game of the season Bertuzzi continues to be active out there, but has no confidence in finishing Zetterberg has to stop floating so much, he would be so much more effective if he didn't. Lebda actually played decent game, saved a goal too Detroit moved the puck around the best they have done all season, and it reminded me of exactly how the team played in 08 All in all, THAT was Detroit hockey. Guest mindfly Report post Posted November 1, 2009 (edited) First game of the season that was red-wing-like(and imo the way the team should play)... osgood actually looked good, the goal he let in he couldnt do anything about weird deflection... i love these tight defensive games.. 2-1, 3-1, 4-2 etc... more of them yesplz Edited November 1, 2009 by mindfly

Pucks 66 Report post Posted November 1, 2009 (edited) Well what do ya know? They looked like a hockey team finally. I though Stuart played a real good game. He was very tough along the wall and behind the net. The team seemed to play as a unit finally and didn't really let much get to Osgood. He looked a little shaky at the start of the game but settled in and did the job. Helm's line was very good, I love the speed. He's going to gt some shorties this season with that speed. Please don't take Eaves out, he's starting to look like an NHL player. I still can't figure out why everyone on this team just ices the puck for fun. I mean they should realize by now you must get to center eh? I'm glad non of those icings came back to bite us. All in all a great effort. If they play like this consistently, they'll be fine. Bryguy 103 Report post Posted November 1, 2009 Great to finally see them not get scored on 4+ times, and someone needs to make a gif of zetterberg morphing into a wolfman
Pucks 66 Report post Posted November 1, 2009 Great to finally see them not get scored on 4+ times, and someone needs to make a gif of zetterberg morphing into a wolfman I didn't even realize that was for halloween. I just though they were showing his footage from the playoffs
Casey 145 Report post Posted November 1, 2009 Overall, I was impressed. Great puck possession, smooth passing. Now if only Bertuzzi would stop telegraphing his shots... wait, scratch that. He's telegraphing, faxing, sending an email, then calling to confirm. Break him of that habit and he could be a 20-30 goal guy again.
Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted November 1, 2009 The Red Wings went 2-1-2 on their five-game road trip. I'll take that every time for a road trip! Maltby with 3 goals!

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted November 1, 2009 The three stars were Datsyuk, Bourque and Kiprusoff?? Not that any of them had a bad game, but in a Wings 3-1 win it seems like some odd choices. I thought Stuart had a great game and deserved mention, if not #1 star. And while Bourque had a good game for Calgary, he took a bad penalty in the offensive zone late in the third period that was sort of the nail in the coffin for Calgary. not a huge deal. Just seemed like odd selections.
