Miss Wing Queen 154 Report post Posted November 22, 2009 (edited) Now it's more likely 4-8 weeks out for Kronwall following today's tests. http://www.freep.com/article/20091122/SPOR...east-four-weeks Glad it's not a tear, but I would have preferred the 2-3 weeks. After the hearing tomorrow, I hope there is a long suspension for this. Edited November 22, 2009 by Miss Wing Queen

After the hearing tomorrow, I hope there is a long suspension for this. I'm unsure on this one. I'm not saying the Red Wings are this type of organization (though they certainly do like to play with the press). The thought entered my mind that if there is a suspension and the NHL is asking how long Kronwall is out... I'd probably exaggerate it a bit just in case. That thought came to my mind too but they did get new images that showed the ACL isn't torn. EDIT: http://www.detnews.com/article/20091122/SP...0319/1128/rss16 "An MRI Sunday showed that Kronwall has a significant sprain of his medial collateral ligament in his left knee. He will be out at least a month, and could be out as long as eight weeks." Edited November 22, 2009 by titanium2
Miss Wing Queen 154 Report post Posted November 22, 2009 Either way, I'm just happy it's not 4-6 months or the whole season. This team really can't afford to take any more hits, and it's going to be tough enough with Kronwall out even this much. I just hope Babs is going to pair Meech, Lebda, and Ericsson up with the other three and not pair Meech/Lebda.
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted November 22, 2009 All things considered (his knee-injury history, the way he collided with Laraque, etc) I will gladly take a month to 8 weeks.
Icesurfer 75 Report post Posted November 22, 2009 (edited) Best treatment for 2nd degree sprain of the MCL is prolotherapy...... amazing results..... cuts treatment time in half. I know the Tiger players have used this treatment but don't know if the Wings use the same orthopedist. Not all orthopedic docs are even aware of the treatment. And a prolotherapist is not always an orthopedic doc. Edited November 22, 2009 by Icesurfer

I would have to imagine that Mr. Ilitch would pull out all the stops to get his players healthy whether they are on the Tigers or Wings.

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted November 22, 2009 I'd say the only good news is, should we make the playoffs, with Lilja, Franzen, Kronwall, Filpulla and Williams all back, we'll be a handful for whatever top seed we get.
Superman54 91 Report post Posted November 22, 2009 Im not stating this will happen, but I would be intrigued to see Detroit as a bottom seeder and watch how they respond in the playoffs.

russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted November 22, 2009 EEEK How does this not end up sucking... Lidstrom-Rafalski Stuart-Lebda Ericsson-Meech... They can't put Lebda and Meech on a pair together...can they???
Cern 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2009 EEEK How does this not end up sucking... Lidstrom-Rafalski Stuart-Lebda Ericsson-Meech... They can't put Lebda and Meech on a pair together...can they??? I would think the best thing to do at this point is pair up Lidstrom, Rafalski, and Stuart with any of Lebda, Ericsson, and Meech. Hardly ideal but then at least you know you have at least ONE decent defenseman on each pairing to supervise the weaker guy at all times. Having our two-way players step up and ramp up their defensive play (moreso) will hopefully help a bit too.

Vladiator 116 Report post Posted November 23, 2009 If Big E gets paired with Lids then I suppose that he could learn a lot very quickly. Does this really matter? Even if a suspension is handed out, the Wings have lost one of their top D and any retribution won't matter.
