dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 Good news is Datsyuk and Lidstrom are producing. We need them to. Bad news is there are still a number of games before the Olympic break. We could really use that break right now. Howard has to start every game for the forseeable future. Sorry Ozzie, can't afford to let you play yourself into shape. Forget about this and move on to the next game.

puckbags 863 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 Once again, did you miss how hard it was to get into 8th place when we were only 1 point out? It's not as easy as people think. Even if the team does get into the playoffs again (which I think they will eventually) what have we seen to make us think they can stay in it? Again, other teams are stringing wins together, the Wings ahven't had more than a 3 game winning streak all season I don't think. It's not just about the Wings. They have to rely on all the other teams to struggle now. Well I guess we better go on a f***in winning streak then shouldn't we. Seems like a pretty easy damn solution to me or you can all sit around and ***** and whine like 4 year olds and throw in the towel with like almost 30 games left ! Logic tells me that to get back into 8th we win our next game and Calgary loses and voila we are ahead of them again , thats not so complicated is it ? brett 1,029 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 well atleast there was never any hope that we might win this game like yesterday i think we played better defensivily when we had more injuries. less scoring but also less goals against now its just sloppy

Hmm your profile says you have been registered since 2003 but obviously you aren't familiar with GDTs after a loss. This "logic" you speak of has no place here. Obviously the wings won't win another game this year, Lidstrom needs to retire and we should trade Zetterberg for a 7th round pick, if we can even get that for him. Datsyerberger 279 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 This is the sort of loss that I really want to be able to pin on the goaltender, and say "goddammit Ozzie" because I don't want to acknowledge the Red Wings team of skaters could possibly suck that much, but.. HOLY DOGs***, that was a terrible defensive effort.

Logic tells me that to get back into 8th we win our next game and Calgary loses and voila we are ahead of them again , thats not so complicated is it ? You proved my point. We have to rely on Calgary losing. What happens if they put together a 3 game winning streak? Reasonable. The Wings can't do that at this point. We would need a four game winning streak to break into the playoffs, which hasn't happened yet this year. At this rate the Wings are more likely to go 1-3 and Calgary to go something like 2-2. Guess what, perfectly reasonable for both teams, and the Wings would still be outside of the playoffs. It's fun to think 30 games is a lot of time, but it disappears quickly. The other teams don't just stop playing games.
Vladifan 680 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 LOL I think Ericsson just tried to score on us. I thought I was losing it. Again. He did actually pass the puck from behind the net to RIGHT in front of it, right?
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 Had I not watched the games and came onto LGW and saw that a game against Phoenix had nearly 1,000 posts, and a game against Minnesota will surely surpass 800 tonight, I'd take that as either really good or really bad. Logic tells me that to get back into 8th we win our next game and Calgary loses and voila we are ahead of them again , thats not so complicated is it ? The problem with that is that Calgary has lost their last 7, I think it is? And they were only 1 point behind us coming into tonight. That skid is not going to continue, or even if it does, it won't last much longer. As someone above posted, it's getting to the point where we pretty much HAVE to bank on other teams losing their games to give us the chance to maintain a playoff spot. The West is too damn close for us to be blowing leads as we have been, and the injury excuse is almost out the window. We're getting guys back, and it's making little difference. I'm praying that, with time, the previously injured Wings will re-gel with the rest of the roster and start bringing about some better results. We need it. datterberg1340 626 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 man we are reeling, this team has no resiliency, no leadership, I can only hope when we get healthy we'll start to resemble an NHL caliber hockey club, 'cause right now we sure as hell don't this season seems like we're being forced to pay some sort of price for all the past successes we've had since '97, as if every break we got during that time has been visited back against us and then some, we have almost NO luck this year, with injuries, calls, bounces, etc. hell even if we do scrape into the playoffs as the 7th or 8th seed, SJ or Chi would crush us but still, with all that has gone wrong recently and this year as a whole, we still have SOME time to turn things around, but if we don't snap out of this horrible run it'll be too late I was also trying to think of the last time a team had as many consecutive deep runs into the playoffs that we've had, the only team I can think of is the Avs, I think they went to at least the Conf. finals in '99, '00, '01, and '02, winning the Cup once in '01; other than that, I don't think anyone else has gone that far that many times in a row

We had our golden opportunity already and we blew it. LA was on a losing streak as well as Calgary but we didn't do anything but manage to stay around 8th spot. If this team put together a string of wins at least 3 games then we would be up higher with some breathing room.
