Why didn't Jiri Hudler make Czech's Olympic Team?

I was super stoked to watch the Czech¥Slovak game...though as I was watching I noticed Happy wasn't there? Last I checked I saw Huds was 2nd on his team and 12th in the league in scoring? I think he would have a good addition!

Sorry if this has been discussed already!

Because he had a brutal challenge one cup right before christmas, not a good way to impress the national team coach.

You'd think at the very least Sir Happiness would bless all those ladies in Vancouver with his presence. He'd be the only guy in town standing in the Olympic Village in the freezing cold with no jacket and shirt unbuttoned half way trying to pimp. Although in a big crowd, I doubt anyone would be able to see actually see him cause he's as tall as a fourth grader.

I thought the reason was he could get more $$$ somewhere else.

Midfly, I don't understand what you mean - what's a challange and cup before christmas?

Even with a bad challange cup, Hudler should have been on the team. For god sakes hes better than Kopecky.

That's the point. You try to build the best team, not pick all the best players. That's why Kovalev isn't in Team Russia, because he may be better than Kozlov for example, but Kozlov fits for his role and that team much better. Kopecky fits on the 4th line better, even though there's much hate towards him on LGW.

edit: Just actually remembered that Kopecky was a Slovak. :D

But the point still remains the same.

Maybe - just maybe - he's not as good as some would like to think.

Exactly. Babcock and Holland dropped him on the lower lines, and eventually let him go to Russia without much resistance.

Seems like the posters here, eva most notably, have overrated this guy beyond what the hockey minds think about him.
