rrasco 1,312 Report post Posted December 5, 2011 (edited) because of this play and his play against lucic, i mean common, grow a ******* set. I never used to dislike him. What did Miller do to Lucic? The slash while he was sitting on his ass after being freight trained? Out of all this, that is what you are mad about? LMAO Grow a ******* set? Looks like he did when he started pounding on Tootoo after getting run over in his first game back. Seriously, what the f*** do you expect him to do? I want to see you get freight trained, then you can 'grow a ******* set' and sit there and ***** about it and see where that gets you. Having said that...I don't think Tootoo intended to run Miller. Albeit, the onus is on the skater to make sure he has an out instead of just barreling through the goalie, so technically speaking, he is responsible for this. Barrie 900 Report post Posted December 5, 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_JTw-4srzk It's a what? Poke? Coke? Yolk? Brady Hoke? That last replay is great, Miller starts punching Tootoo before they hit the ice!
jollymania 162 Report post Posted December 5, 2011 Yeah, concussions are for *******! he didn't get a concussion form the lucic hit, there is no way, if it did happen it was after, and lately they have changed it to concussion like symptoms, since a concussion in the nhl relates to a headache, concussion like symptoms must be like saying you had a headache but you didn't really you just wanted to make a point. That wasn't a freight train hit, or anything close. The first time I saw this, I thought "Wow! What an ass?! But that's Tootoo for ya". Then I saw the replay a bunch of times... I don't know. He is a cheap and dirty player, but there is some reasonable doubt. He was driving to the net, he tries to move to the front, but Erhoff blocks him prevents him from getting in front of the net, Tootoo is too close to skate behind the net at this point and runs into Miller. He actually tucks his elbow in before contact. People make a big deal about his "jumping". If he doesn't jump and Tootoo holds that position, he slams right into Miller knocking him straight backwards, which I think would have been far more violent of a collision. I think, Tootoo meant to run into Miller in some way during this game to agitate him, but had no intent to injure. exactly, the amount of force actually exerted on miller wouldn't make a 5 year old cry
GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted December 6, 2011 Am I the only one here to have found the player scrum/comments by the broadcast crew eerily similar to what ya see on a Saturday night of WWF? Someone hasn't watched wrestling since the 80's.

Yeah, Hmmm. How would he have picked up a neck injury/headaches in a hit like the one from Lucic? Is a professional, high-level athlete fighting tooth and nail for the playoffs going to fake something for seven games because he wants someone suspended? He had headaches and an extremely sore neck. From the Lucic hit. Only seven months after concussions kept him from games late last year. He missed seven games with these symptoms because he needed to grow a pair? 2 Bramsy and haroldsnepsts reacted to this

You didn't say you were mad, you illustrated it by stating Miller should 'grow a ******* set' and letting emotion get in the way of your linguistics. At any rate...Tootoo got the Shanaban: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=605024
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted December 6, 2011 Shanny got this one right. Tootoo put himself on a path where contact was inevitable. I hadn't even really considered the contacted the head part, but that makes it worse. It's just too bad he dropped the ball and Lucic got away without even a fine. Whether it was a factor or not, it sure looks like more kid glove treatment for star players.
Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted December 6, 2011 What a crock of s***. "Shanaban" has merely continued the trend of letting star players get away with murder. What a ******* joke. 2 Hockeymom1960 and sleepwalker reacted to this

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted December 7, 2011 (edited) Done with Shanny. Have been for a while but gotta get my stanch out there first and foremost of course 2 for Tootoo equates to 5 or more for Lucic, which is crazy in it's own right. And that's what Shanny has messed up so terribly, no one knows what a suspension is anymore and people so easily now can look at one vs another and see a discrepancy. I wouldn't call Lucic a star player but he was a top line guy on the Stanley Cup champs and he got off easy. Can't wait to see Malkin swing a stick at someones head and get a fine for being "reckless". AceInTheSleeve 97 Report post Posted December 7, 2011 Everything Shanahan said about the tootoo suspension rings true of the lucic hit. Ball was dropped on the lucic hit, but maybe shanahan can pick it up and show some consistency from here on in
LeftWinger 5,131 Report post Posted December 7, 2011 The glaring problem with this incident I saw (after viewing the video) is where the f&*k was Rinne while his team was out numbered 6 on 5? He F'ing sat his ***** ass in the net and watched the whole thing. Good for Miller getting involved and not flopping and faking an injury, but most these goalies now a days are so pampered and (as shown by Rinne) afraid to protect themselves (and teammates) maybe they need to be knocked around a bit to keep them from getting too pussified. What would Roy have done?
ChelisChick 174 Report post Posted December 7, 2011 (edited) Rinne wasn't playing. Lindback was. Edited December 7, 2011 by ChelisChick
LeftWinger 5,131 Report post Posted December 7, 2011 Rinne wasn't playing. Lindback was. That explains it! Ya, I tried to read the number on his sweater but that camera panned away too fast, wasn't sure whether it was Rinne or Lindback...the point remains the same, he should've been in the scrum instead of changing his pad. ChelisChick 174 Report post Posted December 7, 2011 I understand what you're saying, but if he'd left his crease and charged down the ice, he could've possibly created a short-handed situation for his team. Gaustad and Tootoo both got tossed from the game, but there was no powerplay for either team. Play resumed 5-on-5. The refs were calling a pretty tight game up until then, so Lindback may have wound up with a penalty. Either way, Shanny made the right decision. Seeing it live, there's no question.
