God I know I'm so late to the non-party but I haven't been on the computer for the last two days, see my friends Twitter post the link from NHL.com and now don't want to get out of my pyjamas. It's nearly 11am over here but man I'm seriously bummed about hearing this news :( Might just get changed into one of my jerseys. Also kind of makes me regret not taking it into the shop when I was over in the US and getting LIDSTROM 5 on the back... will have to do that when I'm next over. So very very sad. But what a great servant and a great maker-of-memories.

Will always be a favourite of mine even though only a regular season game...

Such a pleasure watching him for so many years. I'll always remember Nick for the way he could completely dictate the pace of a game and those heads up slap shots that always seemed to find their way to the net... My wife doesn't get to see me tear up very often, but she will today.

Like Yzerman...like Lidstrom. We fail him out in the first round.

Holland, you said you would retire when Lidstrom retires. LET'S SEE IT.

Let's all hope he was joking.

So I guess this means Homer is officially out as well then eh.

Press Conference isn't loading for me. This sucks.

Same. Cannot get it to load on TSN or NHL.com

This is more than the end of an era. This is the end of......everything. I'm kinda at a loss for words for what this represents.

End of a bandwagon too perhaps.. thank the f*** christ if so.

He's done pretty well so far at recovering from turning on the waterworks.
