trade is quite lopsided toward the wings. for a second we can pretend they can afford to sign both stuart and hudler... theres still no guarantee either of them will sign. ryan is so much better then franzen and its really not close and if anaheim is trading ryan you can i can assume they would want to guarantee themselves more then franzen, kindl and a 4th

Ryan had a s*** year last year and it could be because he doesn't want to play in Anaheim anymore. Just like Franzen wants "some fun".

lol... bobby ryan is 25 and had 1 less point then franzen last year in his "s*** season" (57 points) with a 15.2 shooting percentage which is higher then johan has ever had. ryan s*** season point total ironically enough is actually 2 points less then franzens career year.

if in ryan's s*** seasons he gets 2 less points then franzens career year... what incentive does anaheim have to swap a consistent 25 year old (4 years 30 goals is consistent) for an 32 year old who is consistently inconsistent? seems quite foolish from their perspective.

Bobby Ryan is younger, more potential, and better than Franzen, Kindl and a 7th. This trade makes Anaheim worse in a bad way. Kindl is a fringe nhl player and hudler is undersized (and they still have to sign him themselves). I mean there is enough quantity but the quality coming back to anaheim will prevent this trade from happening.

Just so I'm not just turning your deal down, I will present a counter offer. People around here far too often just say no to people and don't offer opinion.

I like that second trade with Stuart for Schultz. The first is good too but I wouldn't mind seeing Quincey inserted in there somewhere in place of Ericsson. I guess I just like Ericsson better than Quincey.

Ya I agree that Ericsson is better than Quincey. But since Quincey is un-signed and an RFA Anaheim would still have to negotiate a contract that could be higher than they are willing to pay. The thing that makes Ericsson or White attractive is that they have a set cap that has no negotiation, I'm pretty sure Ericsson has a modified NTC though. I just don't see White in our future for some reason.

Ya I agree that Ericsson is better than Quincey. But since Quincey is un-signed and an RFA Anaheim would still have to negotiate a contract that could be higher than they are willing to pay. The thing that makes Ericsson or White attractive is that they have a set cap that has no negotiation, I'm pretty sure Ericsson has a modified NTC though. I just don't see White in our future for some reason.

That's a lot to give up IMO.. Yes Corey perry is good and they would want a lot for him but just not worth it.. Filpula is finally producing, Tatar could be good down the line (tho I wouldn't mind giving him up as a prospect in a good trade). White isn't the best but he is pretty solid. And then of course the first round pick is always valuable. I dont know what I'd counter with because I just think perry will be too expensive and probably stay with the ducks for a long time..

We all want to get something back, but when there's common knowledge as to a selected destination that a player is going to, it makes it hard to get anything. Holland may be able to trade signing rights for a 6th rounder...

Look at it this way, it the Wings sign Parise, Suter and Schultz, the Devils, Preds and Ducks most likely get sweet f*** all to compensate. This summer, it's gonna go both ways on losing and gaining for UFA.

Quincey on the other hand, if he signs somewhere for 3-3.5 mil, the Wings get draft pick compensation from whatever team would sign him as an RFA. Lets hope the Isles throw 4 mil at him cause their D is absolutely terrible. Take the picks as compensation and sign Schultz and/or DeKeyser.

lol...you are so wrong on so many levels i dont know where to start. you do realize that at age 25 ryan has 136 goals in the nhl and franzen has scored 14 more goals at age 32???? lets not forget that 5 came from 1 game!

franzens career year at age 32 was 58 points which is 13 points less then ryan's career year of 71 points. the problem here is ryan is 7 years younger and will only be getting better for the next few years whereas franzen's game has only declined. by the time ryan is franzen's age, im pretty sure he'll have more then 150 goals.

at age 25 ryan's "s*** year", his 4th full season in the nhl, he became just the fourth player since the lockout to hit 30 goals in 4 straight seasons. kovalchuk, kessel, iginla are the other 3 but thats probably because of his ice time, right?


the difference between ryan and franzen? one player has about 100x more potential, possibility to become elite, 100x greater work ethic, HEART, A BETTER nose for the net, a more consistent track record, hell, even better numbers yet is 7 years younger... if you really think the only difference between these two players is age then you just apparently haven't watched ryan play.


im sorry bro... franzen just isnt that good. his value to you is WAYYYYYY higher then the value any other team would put on him. not saying teams wouldnt want him because somebody would, but to compare him to bobby ryan is so wrong its not even funny.... and it HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ICE TIME

If you want Ryan, this is what has to happen...

Let Quincey walk and attain the 1st & 3rd for him...

Now trade Franzen, Hudler (rights,) Stuart (rights,) DETROIT's 2013 1st & 3rd picks(keep the ones from the Quincey walk) for Bobby Ryan and Justin Schultz...

You get Ryan, Schultz plus have more than likely a higher 1st and a high 3rd round pick in 2013...


to ANA: J. Franzen, J. Hudler, B. Stuart, 2013 1st & 3rd

to DET: B. Ryan, J. Schultz

...then you still acquire Parise and Suter and possibly that 4th line big man and there ya go!
