To get away from the pessimism about the current roster, Who is your favorite player from any team excluding the Wings, and why? Have to say Henrik Lundqvist. Tremendous goalie, good guy, and Swedish. I love watching this video.

Hands down Chris Neil of the Ottawa Senators. Good size, great hitter, great fighter, gives it all every night.

Zdeno Chara from the Bruins.

I met him a couple times when he played for the Kentucky Thoroughblades of the AHL, I'm 6'3" and dude made me feel like a midget standing next to him lol.

I've got alot of favorite players, but Neil is at or near the top of my list. Guy can do everything.

Parise :)
Think for yourself. Question authority. Throughout human history as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are or where we are going in this ocean of chance, it has been the authorities, the political, the religious, the educational authorities who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing, forming in our minds their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable, open mindedness, chaotic, confused vulnerability to inform yourself.

I don't know why, but I think Matt Duchene is a pretty badass player. If not him, probably Milan Lucic.

Dan Girardi.

He's quietly become on of the better defensemen in the NHL.

Miguel Cabrera.

Edit: in all seriousness, that's a tough question. I honestly don't know if I have one at this point. There have been players that I've enjoyed outside of the Wings but they always seem to turn out to be assholes, whiners, or political martyrs.

Mark Fistric. Sad to see him resign.

I knew you'd say Fistric. One of my favorite defensemen.

Teemu Selanne. Great longevity and a backhand that goalies see in their nightmares. Incredible skills and playing at a high level past 40.

This is too hard to choose only a few, I have quite a few that I admire, respect, appreciate, etc... so let's just do it as though it were a top starting 5...

F - David Clarkson
F - Claude Giroux
F - Steven Stamkos
D - Zdeno Chara
D - Erik Karlsson
G - Henrik Lundqvist

All I have to say about Holland and our off-season:

Here in this thread

Here in this one as well

Here in this one too

and finally

Here

Holland is a damn good GM. period.
