I'm really not seeing why people are happy about Smith's destructive loss of discipline at an absolutely vital juncture.

But you have no control over what they think.  And it's over.  In every sense of the word.

Proud of our guys. They gutted out an ugly season and played their best when they needed it most. Great way to end the season, now let's keep this play up into the playoffs!

We won't tell your Nashville brethren.  Thanks for reppin'.

FSD post game is all about the matchup between the Wings and Ducks.

Pavel said in his post-game interview that the biggest incentive they've had the last couple of weeks has been the fans.

Hank responding to the usual questions with answers straight out of the press handbook.

Can't wait to read the "Phoenix: I still think it's a hockey market" chapter of Gary Bettman's autobiography. I'm guessing it's going to be chapter 11.

We are so lucky to be able to watch the Euro Twins.

What a performance in the biggest game of the season.

Your comment about the Euro twins reminds me of when I got to watch the Russian Five on the ice.  I loved watching them.  But I wish I'd realized at the time how lucky I was to get to view that kind of dynamic action on the ice. Guess the perspective wasn't quite there for me. Thanks for the reminder.

He HAS a brother who's annoying as hell.  But in a good way.  Geordie.   He plays here in Austin with the AHL team.

I thought that Geordie was up with the stars for the game. Unless I misheard the announcers

Hell yeah !! :yahoo:

What a finish after that unlucky loss in Calgary..

Really proud of the guys. Z showing what leaders do when it matters most, Pavel the same, and Jimmy...season on the line and our "average" goalie comes up performing like he did the last games? Awesome. Seems that deal he just signed is absolutely fitting..

That said...let's shoot some ducks.

HUGE accomplishment to get in with the rollercoaster ride this season's been

Nick and Stu leaving

all the injuries

all the kids playing

now let's see if we can't make some noise

The most promising part of this is the chemistry all lines have developed.  I know they're gonna at least bring in Bert and Helm if they can.  But still...when you think about it, a miracle took place with this team the last few weeks  . :notworthy:

He might very well have been.  In fact, the only one I'm sure was called back to Austin was Matt Fraser.  Sorry 'bout that.   :lookaround:

I thought before the season the Red Wings would finish between 6th and 8th in the West best case scenario. Considering the circumstances and fashion it took to accomplish that, it's a truly remarkable feat they pulled it off at all. No Lidstrom, no Stuart, no Helm, no Bertuzzi and yet here we are celebrating a 22nd consecutive appearance in the playoffs. Everyone in the organization deserves a ton of credit for turning an already tough "transition year" into one of development and opportunity to still compete at the same time.

Very rewarding result tonight as a fan. Can't wait for the playoffs to start!
