But I don't think relations with Fedorov have improved this summer so I doubt it's his participation in the game. And it can't be Lidstrom, because we don't have cap space. Sadly. It will depend on his his GM responsibilities in the KHL. Last I heard, Yzerman had said he hadn't even had a pair of sakes on in like 3 years and this was a few years ago. He's the GM of the Tampa Bay Lightning, a division rival of the Wings. I just don't see why fans think this is some kind of special event that former players should feel some kind of obligation to attend. The "Winter Classic" is just a regular season game, created by Bettman and Company and any specialness to the game was totally destroyed by scheduling a gazillion other outdoor games. Alumni games go on all the time. I don't know why anyone would be excited or annoyed by anyone attending or not attending the event.
