SwedeLundin77 460 Report post Posted June 19, 2014 http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2014/06/red_wings_place_forward_jordin.html So Holland will not re-sign Bertuzzi, which is good, but he is considering re-signing Cleary? Color me confused. Anyway, this is good news as he had a pretty poor season and is just too injury prone.
number9 3,297 Report post Posted June 19, 2014 Now how are we gonna win shootouts? Hopefully one of the kids, idk maybe Jurco (I know, shot in the dark), could be tried in a SO... Wait, who am I kidding? that won't work.
GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted June 19, 2014 Good. I'm perfectly fine with letting every free agent walk, with the possible exception of Alfie. Even then, I think the Wings could afford to explore other options.
frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted June 19, 2014 About time, thanks for the service and best of luck. The only UFA I'd be willing to re-sign is the monster, Alfie should finally sign a deal with the Sens and retire there even if its just a 1 day contract he deserves it. xtrememachine1 795 Report post Posted June 19, 2014 Although not unexpected, I'm glad to hear its official for both him and Sammy. Both were injured all the time and when they weren't injured they were barely noticeable. The league min is overpayment at this point. Legwand probably won't be back either. It wouldn't surprise me to see Quincey gone too.
WingsallTheway 383 Report post Posted June 19, 2014 As bad as hes become, I'd still take him over cleary. But what do I know, im not Ken Holland 3 hillbillywingsfan, Hockeymom1960 and STL-Wings reacted to this

hillbillywingsfan 794 Report post Posted June 19, 2014 So we are going to let Bert go which is fine...but re-sign Cleary?!?!? Am I in bizzaroland or something? Waiting for the announcement that we are signing Q to an extension of 2-3 years.
rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted June 19, 2014 Honestly, I never had a problem with the guy, but his time has passed. Hopefully the next Bertuzzi doesn't come with a curse, and can be half as productive as Todd was in his prime.

You could see he slowed down considerably during the second half of the season. I hope Holland has learnt from his mistakes with Cleary, Samuelsson and Bertuzzi... 1 frankgrimes reacted to this

frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted June 19, 2014 Well he's trying to sign Cleary again... jup but on a two way contract so basically it's a signing for GR and an injury call up here and there, no problem with that.
RyanBarnes! 293 Report post Posted June 19, 2014 Well he's trying to sign Cleary again...LOL, yes I read that, but there is no way Cleary will play in the NHL again. It is only for show, to make good on that promise.

ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted June 19, 2014 Very surprising. Holland only goes for washed up veterans, so it's mind boggling why he didn't throw a 3 year offer at him.

kipwinger 8,756 Report post Posted June 20, 2014 And thus ends my long time dream of cheering wildly as Todd Bertuzzi is handed the Stanley Cup first after it is presented to Zetterberg (and cheering all the more wildly knowing that the rest of the hockey world is HATING what they're seeing). 4 McAwesome, hooon, Detroit \# 1 Fan and 1 other reacted to this
