Intriguing. But now frees up some cap space for them to possibly re-sign Stralman...

I'd like Richards to. But who knows how much he will want...and remember he was in a slump to finish their year and in the 3rd or 4th line I believe?

Another high-end(ish) center on the market along with Spezza, Kesler, Stastny, and (maybe) Thornton.  Keep driving those prices down boys, and hopefully they'll get low enough for Kenny to consider.

GMRwings:  "Well, in other civilized countries, 16 years old isn't considered underage.  For instance, I believe the age of consent is 16 in Canada.  There's some US states where it's 16 as well.

Get off the high horse.  Not like she was 10."

It's getting kind of ridiculous how many options at center there might be this year. Kesler, Spezza, B Richards, O'Rielly, Stastny, Legwand, J Thornton, Bolland, Grabovski, Ott, Roy, O Jokinen

Yeah, no s*** eh?

Kind of makes me wish Holland had held off on that Weiss signing last summer.

Actually, this is a good point. Driving the price down will certainly help with the potential stuff we'll have to give up. Richards could be a good fall back option, although I'd prefer any of the others first.

True but no one could have predicted some of these back then.

As @capgeek noted, Richards still owed $8 M in signing bonuses which are to be paid out in full over next 3 years plus $12.6 M in salary

ouch.

If life has taught me anything its this...A) an increase in the quantity supplied always drives down price, and B) snakes make horrible birthday presents.

I'm in the wrong business. 20 million dollars for nothing plus whatever salary he gets when he signs with a new team. He is hurting all the way to the bank.

If anything, that has been his one strength. Not that I want Richards, mind you.

I feel bad for him, yes I know I shouldn't because of all the money he is making but seriously the guy is human too and has a compete level in him. But man sitting in your over the top mansion, partying it up with hot babes and getting paid millions of $ for not working is like a dream come true.

If I'm Y I'm offering him 4,5 for 3 years he can could fill the St. Louis void there.

The amount of center depth this year is indeed extremely outstanding: Spezza, Kesler, Richards, Thornton, Statsny wow

Weiss will get another shot, and I doubt Ken trades. My guess is he'll wait till FA and probably talk to the likes of Stastny and Legwand, and maybe others if their situations change.

Brad Richards is seventh in all-time NHL earnings at $89M, per capgeek. He’ll now get $20M from the buyout, plus another contract. #NYR

— Chris Johnston

unreal, fourth largest buyout in league history behind lecavalier, dipietro, & bryzzy.. wonder how close to #1 he can get after this ha

love the thought but that's far too much paperwork for Holland to comprehend......so let's give Cleary another 3 years and call it good.
