I just feel bad for Weiss. The only thing he can control is his play on the ice, and in that way he's performed exceptionally well, and yet he can't get a break. Bummer.

Agreed. I understand this will never happen but I'd really like Helm and Weiss switched. No knock on Helm but I just feel he is suited to the 3rd or 4th lines and Weiss can clearly help this team offensively.

It might just be that he's not feeling right. And, who knows, maybe he helps the fourth line spend a little more time in the o-zone like Jurco's done for them. I don't really have a problem with it. He can still feature on the power play.

I 100% agree. I was being facetious. He deserves way more ice time than he gets. How does a guy like glendening who's on the 4th line get 4&1/2 minutes more ice time than Weiss? Miller got almost 4 minutes more ice time, even helm got 9 minutes more ice time than Weiss. I don't know what's going on but I don't like it.

Last game I think a lot had to do with the 10 minutes in penalties. Who knows he might not be back at 100% as well. If I remember correctly he got moved up in the third against Ottawa.

If he isn't 100% he shouldn't be playing. The wings should know by now that can only make things worse.

I just wanted to point this out:

http://www.freep.com/story/sports/nhl/red-wings/2014/12/29/detroit-red-wings-gustav-nyquist-overtime-goal/20989303/

Last season when the Wings went through a winless streak, as they did just before this year's Christmas break, coach Mike Babcock said that, "I'd be doing a jig every time we got one point. Any time we got anything, it was great."

Maybe the most un-Babcock Babcock quote ever. It's good to know he's right there with everyone else in Wings Nation in terms of the emotional ups and downs. Picture him doing the Macarena in private.

Oh good, Weiss is back on the fourth line tonight. Because that guy doesn't create offense or anything.

I hope Babcock doesn't try some of those new defensive pairings unless he truly wants to change them for good. Worked against them last game

Personally, I hope Babs does whatever he wants. For the life of me I can't figure out why so many people compain about his line combos and decisions day after day when to me (and many pundits across the league), he is the best coach in the entire NHL.

Is he unorthodoxed in his approach sometimes, sure...but what basis are you all using to assume that the unorthodox move is wrong? Maybe his "unorthodoxy" is what puts him head and shoulders above the rest of the league.

Rock solid argument. Babcock is the bestest coach eva, so nobody should question anything he does. Got it.

I'm guessing Weiss is just being eased back in after getting knocked around lately. Not the worst idea Bab's has had.

Bowman said what???

He started Weiss on a higher line last game. Putting him on the fourth line would have made more sense a game ago, but he wasn't too concerned with it then. AND he benched Weiss in overtime as well. So I'm just puzzled as to what's going on.
