nawein 324 Report post Posted February 20, 2015 I don't see an official report, but this article says Jurco has been demoted. http://www.foxsports.com/detroit/story/gave-wings-likely-to-stand-pat-as-trade-deadline-looms-022015

mvanpop 98 Report post Posted February 20, 2015 Good he's not getting much playing time and what time he is getting isn't in the role he should be in

number9 3,297 Report post Posted February 20, 2015 If he dominates in GR that should prove he deserves a scoring role with the Wings 1 jimmyemeryhunter reacted to this
GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted February 21, 2015 I'm fine with it. Would rather have him actually playing than being a healthy scratch or wasting on a line with Miller and Andersson. Never understood putting a skill guy with plugs -- might as well have let Jurco develop all season in GR if that was the way he was going to be used in Detroit. 2 TheXym and krsmith17 reacted to this
kipwinger 8,526 Report post Posted February 21, 2015 Abdelkader started out with the plugs and it has served him well. There's really no recipe for success. I'm usually more bent out of shape about the way Babs uses veterans than how he uses young guys.

Wheelchairsuperhero 1,453 Report post Posted February 21, 2015 Is it? Other than size, what are people seeing in game from him?Hands and vision. That's what I see anyway. He's got great hands and some of the passes he makes are well above average. 1 krsmith17 reacted to this

I'm usually more bent out of shape about the way Babs uses veterans than how he uses young guys. Fair point, but doesn't Jurco have quite a bit more skill (upside wise) than Abby ever did? I always considered Abby a third liner that played up more eventually out of necessity rather than merit. Granted, he has performed pretty well in the role and scored more this season. Jurco just never seemed liked a fit on the 4th line. I was a huge proponent of having him start in Detroit, but I feel like now he would have been better served developing in Grand Rapids. 1 krsmith17 reacted to this
MDCard 48 Report post Posted February 21, 2015 Jurco shows grit in the corners and some tenacity. He fights for pucks and wins battles. I like that. He has good size. I thought he would have better hands around the net, but i think that will develop with time. I think he needs more time at the NHL level to continue to develop his game, create and finish. I would rather him be in the line up than Weiss who seems to shy away from contact, checks or battles (and seems also to lack confidence when he has the puck for some reason). Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted February 21, 2015 The AHL should do well for him. I think he could use the boost of confidence, and he's more likely to get that by being a leader and conributor in GR than he is being a passenger for the team playing on the bottom of the lineup here. 2 TheXym and krsmith17 reacted to this
DickieDunn 2,571 Report post Posted February 21, 2015 Wings roster still shows Jurco, GR roster doesn't, and there's nothing anywhere that they sent him down. Gave just messed up.
jimmyemeryhunter 2,747 Report post Posted February 21, 2015 Yeah, I'm not seeing anything about Jurco being sent down, even in the article talking about kindl coming up, and Quincey going down in practice. If he was sent down I'd think they'd have done it at the same time the brought kindl back up, making the info attainable at the same time. So I'm guessing hes still here. http://ble.ac/teamstream-)http://teamstre.am/1zV2Wfu

His hands aren't bad around the net, he just rarely gets the puck there since he's playing on the fourth line. However, I think he's just gripping his stick too tight, and the bounces just aren't coming his way. He clearly has the skill, go look at some of his goals from last season when he had confidence, spin o ramma first goal, making Pavel datyuk-esque moves, or even his behind the back drop pass this year to Kronwall. The skills not the problem, its there, I just think they told him to play a simple game to teach him the way defensively in the nhl. He's still developing and he's fast, big, hits well, grinds well already so yes still valuable to the team while babs is teaching him the stuff he didn't have time to learn in grand rapids. Hell come around, but I really do think they should send him down let him get his confidence back and bring him up after two or three weeks and put him on one of the top lines. Something like they just did with pulks. Also. Having him on a line with A.A. and mantha would be great. Let them all get some chemistry together because if they all come near their potential they could become one of our top two lines of the future. I think Mantha-Athanasiou-Jurco (jam line) together would be amazing, speed, size, skill, some grit, and with a sniper in mantha.... It could be special. aa+Jurcos speed alone would give people fits, and manthas pretty damn quick himself. 3 MDCard, TheXym and krsmith17 reacted to this
