Yeah I wish the media would let the kid prepare for hiis game with the Otters and stop being in his face all the time. Imagine the situation: Hey young wunderkind you've worked hard and exceeded all expectations as a reward you are going to join.....the Edmonton Oilers I don't usually do this but the first thing that came to mind was the worlds most famous panda:
chaps80 1,591 Report post Posted April 21, 2015 IMHO he should pull a Lindros If he does, I hope whoever he ends up with does'nt end up giving so many pieces in return for him that they turn the Oilers into an instant playoff team like what happened after what Philly gave Quebec. They don't deserve that.
redwingsfan83 2 Report post Posted April 22, 2015 I think they have won every year it feels like. The funny thing is, they will still blow lol It is now guranteed Connor Mcdavid will be a bust or maybe the next Wayne Gretzky.
number9 3,297 Report post Posted April 22, 2015 McDavid reported to the mess that was Erie. Why would he suddenly pull a Lindros now? Don't see it happening, he's a pretty down to earth kid unlike the infamous Lindros 1 chaps80 reacted to this

Don't see it happening, he's a pretty down to earth kid unlike the infamous Lindros Lindros being a stubborn brat the way he was might've been the best thing that happened to Quebec/Colorado with how that trade worked out But yea, McDavid will play for Edmonton. They just have until he's a free agent to convince him to stay. I'm sure he'll love playing with their other skilled forwards. Now they just need better defense/goaltending. toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted April 22, 2015 Will be interesting to see what Bob Nicholson does. Will he clean out everyone in the front office (specifically Lowe and Mctavish)? Was interesting, I was listening to the radio yesterday and the question was posed to an Edmonton media guy regarding how the public would react if Gretzky was announced as coming on board as the GM. The guy said he could believe he was saying this, but he thinks the reaction would be negative. While Gretzky still walks on water in that town, they'd see it as the same old thing with another guy from the old boys club from the 80s, even if his name is Gretzky. They want a seasoned GM who has been there and done that, proven track record. With McDavid coming in, they do have some flexibility in maybe moving some of their older skilled forwards to fill the holes that they have.
UpstateNYRedWingsFan 42 Report post Posted April 22, 2015 Red Wings should just trade Howard, Helm, and your 2021 1st round pick for McDavid. It's not hard. I did it in NHL 15. (FWIW I had already traded my 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 first round pick) 1 kipwinger reacted to this

Well they are meeting with Chiarelli, so he can trade McDavid for another bad return. Honestly it would be a good move, Chiarelli is miles ahead of MacTavish and he did build a Stanley Cup contender. If they end up with McDavid, Chiarelli and maybe McLellan that's a great summer for them but man their player shopping list is huge: top pairing defender with size, proven goaltender. That's good for them. They've been horrible at drafting (except their 1st pick, haha) and now they'll have a career scout as GM to hook them up with some good scouts. kipwinger 8,524 Report post Posted April 24, 2015 Aaaaand Keven Lowe fired as President of Hockey Operations... But retained "on the business side" of the organization. They just don't know how to quit each other.
toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted April 24, 2015 I heard that Katz really has a hard time firing people (in any of his businesses) - this is probably why Lowe would still be around in some capacity.

Shows that he hasn't forgotten the human side unlike Shanahan who fired 25 people without blinking an eye. With Nichelson and a new GM MacTavish will be on a very short leash, Lowe likewise. So what? Some people still are feeling bad when it comes to during others Also there is a difference between firing 2 or 25 guys Chiarelli as the new boss reporting to Nichelson guess that means Lowe and MacT are out. Ironically MacT fired Kruger while he was in Switzerland and now MacT gets fired the same way..Maybe he has Skype...
