Trastion 22 Report post Posted July 16, 2015 The Detroit Red Wings will travel the fewest miles of any team for the upcoming 2015-16 season. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2015/07/detroit_red_wings_to_travel_th.html#incart_most-commented_news_article Less travel is always good but how hard is travel really on teams now? They get to fly in a private plane that has a lot of perks for them. It is not like the general public flying. 1 Helmethead reacted to this

They get to fly in a private plane that has a lot of perks for them. It is not like the general public flying. Jet lag is jet lag. Change in elevation also affect oxygen perfusion to tissues. Private planes or not, you can't circumvent physiology of the body. It's still affected once the plane has taken flight. 1 gcom007 reacted to this

Mckinley25 678 Report post Posted July 16, 2015 The sharks travel most. Do they always? Is that why they're the perennial playoff choker?
jimmyemeryhunter 2,747 Report post Posted July 16, 2015 (edited) Do they always? Izzy24 44 Report post Posted July 17, 2015 There's only a 3 hour time difference between the east and west coasts. There is no jet lag.
Wings_Toledo 233 Report post Posted July 17, 2015 Travelling is stressful no matter how used to it you might be. The less time spent on the plane and in the airport, the better.
The Datsyukian Deke 127 Report post Posted July 17, 2015 Maybe, but its 33.5k with 17 B2Bs. I'd rather have the 34.2k and 12 B2Bs from last year.
Euro_Twins 4,477 Report post Posted July 17, 2015 There's only a 3 hour time difference between the east and west coasts. There is no jet lag. I just did that trip, I'm currently out west in the 3 hour time difference and I can tell you there was a bit of jet lag still. When you are on a plane for 5 hours at 35,000 feet and then you have a 3 hour time change believe it or not you still get that jet lag
kickazz 5,459 Report post Posted July 17, 2015 There's only a 3 hour time difference between the east and west coasts. There is no jet lag. There is no jet lag if you travel 2 or fewer time zones east or 3 or fewer time zones west. So returning flights from west coast back to Detroit poses a problem on our players especially when there's an immediate home game coming back.

toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted July 17, 2015 I travelled every week between Toronto and Chicago from January to April this year and I can tell you....the travel was very draining and that's only 2 flights per week and the flight is very short. That said, their travel would be slightly different than mine, so it wouldn't be as draining, but they do more of it. It has an impact, not sure how much though (so DET travelling 50% less than some of the Western teams is helpful, but my guess....without looking at the document, is that the teams DET is really competing against have similar travel schedules). It may only benefit the team if they make it to the cup finals against the Sharks.
