SetecX 139 Report post Posted August 23, 2015 Hey guys, figured it was time to make a dedicated thread for any and all arena construction updates since there didn't seem to be one. For anyone that does not know, I have a drone and I live in the Detroit area. I have been flying by the new arena site and getting photo/video of the progress. You can see it all here: http://wingsarena.tumblr.com Link to the Youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9RDX3GJygvqrMxq0GpkL0Q I will try to be at least somewhat regular about posting updates. Especially once construction really starts rolling. For the most part its just a big hole in the ground right now. If anyone else has construction photos/videos or if you find articles on the construction, post it all here. 2 Matt and wings7 reacted to this

Helmethead 235 Report post Posted August 31, 2015 I'll miss the Joe. What a great place to watch a game. I'd say that even if I weren't a Red Wings fan.

KATIEBARTHEDOOR24 426 Report post Posted October 9, 2015 Any word on if anything from the Joe is moving to the new house. Horn, scoreboard, most importantly boards?
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted October 9, 2015 Horn? God damn better be moving. I'd also love to see the same jumbotron. Or at least for the new one to kind of a throw back to the current one. I don't care about the boards themselves but I hope they're just as bouncy.
KATIEBARTHEDOOR24 426 Report post Posted October 9, 2015 As old as that out of date scoreboard is...It would be kinda cool to have it. And please get a different sound track.

KATIEBARTHEDOOR24 426 Report post Posted October 10, 2015 The Troughs... LOL They do make it easier to get in and out of the bathroom quickly. They do cut down on lines 1 kipwinger reacted to this
SetecX 139 Report post Posted October 12, 2015 Hey guys, sorry for the lack of updates the past month. Made a few updates to the blog from a flyover yesterday: http://wingsarena.tumblr.com You can start to see the positioning of the arena bowl in relation to the site now. Looking forward to flying over when they start to build the bowl. As for updates coming into the colder months, as long as it isn't wet out and not super windy, I will still fly. If I can't fly, I will try to get pics best I can from the street level. 3 rick zombo, wings1110 and Matt reacted to this
LeftWinger 5,130 Report post Posted November 4, 2015 (edited) http://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/2015/11/04/report-cost-new-red-wings-arena-rises/75146516/ Seems The I's have added $177M in upgrades to Cadillac Centre© in order to make it the most fan friendly and event friendly Arena in the NHL and the country. I really love the practice/amateur Hockey facility concept. Sure that means the kids won't be playing on the NHL ice (like they do at the Joe) but I am sure it will still be just as exciting to play there! (and yes, I am sticking with my name until otherwise named something else! ) I just hope that the city steps up protection in the surrounding area's for the fans and event goers. I know Brush Park is getting lots of "flippers" buying old mansions now in hopes to cash in later! Nicole Curtis owns a few of them. Going to be exciting times in the City...too bad it means the trash gets pushed to the burbs. Places like Ecorse, River Rouge and Lincoln Park have been going down for awhile now, but it's now extending into Wyandotte, Riverview, Woodhaven and Trenton. My poor Brownstown is even getting worse. I drive in every weekend to work and each time I do, I see things happening that just weren't 10 years ago.
