Dude, we've been mediocre since 2009. Too early to tell how this team will finish, but I thought we'd have another battle making the playoffs this season. We'll see.

most realistic people thought that it will be a grind again with either barely making it or barely missing the playoffs

Ummm I can't remember when we have played this badly over and over again. I think the playoff streak is in jeopardy. A lot of very telling stats define the start of this season. Blash can't make us a puck moving high flying team because we have 1 good puck mover on the back end. Watch how other teams move the puck. Even the bad ones look miles better than us. It's just not our game with this roster. Babs knew it

Blashill needs to reevaluate how he's utilizing these players. There's no excuse for the amount of talent that's on this team to be struggling the way they are.

spot on the talent is there just got to utilize it right

We need a big trade for a big D.

Helm, Jurco, Ericsson for Byfuglien?

Why would the other team make this trade? Jurco is unproven, Helm is injury prone and Ericsson is Ericsson. But yes, we do need to get a top level defenseman. Unfortunately, we'd have to trade one of our important pieces to do that. Not our crap.

This team lost every puck battle. Unacceptable besides the same guys (zetty larkin mrazek abby green and the 4th line). Green had a very good night besides that last minute giveaway. But that was the whole night. Green had the puck for a 2nd and there were 2 Montreal guys on him. The red wings didn't win a single puck battle.

The lines have zero chemistry. That is the other apparent thing. Besides our top line all the other lines are just floating around. Nyquist and tatar need to do more because larkin looks 100000 times better than either of them. I'd play Nyquist with hank and tatar with larkin because it ain't working with Richards.

Also can we please bench Ericsson already ?

Thank god for mrazek playing well otherwise I don't want to know the score. Can't we just fast forward to next month so we can have pav back already ?

Isn't Byfuglien in a contract year? If he isn't close to resigning maybe Winnipeg trades him?

Theirs talent on offense but our D is bottom third of the league bad. Babs got a lot out of them. They didn't score but they weren't a train wreck every night. Counting on Kronner and E as our top pair against top teams is Edmonton style. Blash has to adapt to a team defense approach. We can't play like we have a Subban or Buff because we don't. Not even close. Kronwall would have to battle to be on Winnepegs top four and he's our undisputed #1. We just don't even compare around the league

With all our assets and how the defense looks compared to other playoff teams I think Holland finally goes out and gets some help on D. Buff or bust

I would love to see how E would do on another team. A 12th round pick forward converted to D as our #2. I guarantee he would work his way down to third pair on any other team. Babs gave that man a career

Not gonna happen. Holland works 3 days a year - draft day, trade deadline day, and July 1. He's missed on so many defensemen that could help us, so what would make anyone believe he's gonna hit one now? Dougie Hamilton was sitting there right in front of his face all summer. Holland doesn't have a clue.

The two losses and the third should have lost game were all because we went up against a team that clogged the neutral zone. We couldn't connect cleanly going up ice and thereby were completely shut down. Not a good sign as most teams are going to try and own the neutral zone every game besides Toronto (sucks) and Tampa who was pretty much just trying to do the same thing as us

guys we are 3-2-0 it could be alot worse we could be the blue jackets we just need to get a better set of line combinations going helm just got back and so did dd it will take a few games i say larkin needs to center is own line though

They probably will, especially if they're not contending. I just can't imagine him going for those kinds of pieces. But you never know.

So add in a conditional pick if he resigns with us, offer up something like this :

Helm (also a contract year and from Winnipeg if I remember correctly)

Ericsson

Jurco/Pulkkinen

Conditional draft pick

That should be enough to land Buff if not it's only a few small tweaks away from being enough.

I'm just picturing our top 4 if that were to ever happen:

Kronwall, Byfuglien

Dekeyser, Green

Whoever, Whocares

We have enough prospects stuck in a log jam that we can afford to make a serious run at somebody like Buff.

cant see us giving up jurco or pulk they are our future no doubt thats the system helm to me is expendable however beause of the logjam we have at center but idk who else you throw in there

If he doesn't resign all you're out is Helm who likely won't be resigned, Ericsson who getting rid of would be a blessing, and the only real loss is the one of Jurco or Pulkkinen both of whom have yet to show much at the NHL level.
