Griffins legend Brian Lashoff has retired.

This mafuqqer literally played with Chris Chelios and Simon Edvinsson in his career lol

We putting #18 in the rafters in GR right?

The most unheralded player to ever play for the organization. I really hope he gets a job somewhere within the organization.

A great mentor in GR for the kids. Probably deserved to be on the big roster over a lot of other dmen who were.

Yup.  Great organization guy.  He will be GRG coach one day.  Then Red Wings one day.  Yzerman loves this guy.

Horcoff/Yzerman have gutted the entire GR coaching staff. Ben Simon and all his staff gone. All that remains is AC Mike Knuble and the video coach.

Yzerman will probably bring in a young coach he really likes (someone that can potentially replace Lolande if he screws the pooch)

The team so far next year:

Hirose - Lombardi - Mazur
Hanas - Doucet - Soderblom

Wallinder - Tuomisto
Johanssen - McIsaac
Viro - Sebrango

Cossa

(I think Eddogg and Kasper make the Wings)

Good move. I think thiss team drastically underachieved uner Simon. Everyone on the defense played badly (Wallinder was in Sweden). Hirose and Hanas played well, but guys like Soderblom played better with the Wings I thought. Hopefully Lombardi and Mazur insert a real oomph to the team next year with the new coach.

So basically here is the roster for the Griffs to start the season (assuming no prospects make the Wings)

Hirose - Kasper - Mazur
Hanas - Czarnik - Soderblom
Doucet -  Lombardi - Luff
Gettinger - L'Esperance - Shine
Stevens/Bliss

Edvinsson - Rafferty
Johansson - McIsaac
Wallinder - Tuomisto
Newpower/Viro/Didier

Lyon/Reimer
Cossa
Lethemon

I like this roster. The Wings are much deeper, but so are the Griffins. L'Esperance, Shine, and Luff were basically top6 forwards for the Griffs last year. They're going to get pushed down into the bottom 6 most likely which is great for the teams depth. A full season of Mazur, Kasper, Lombardi, and Soderblom on the team should be hella nice too.

Rafferty was a solid veteran pickup on D. Newpower, Viro, and Didier are all basically AHL regulars who may get forced down to the walleye to start the season, again, great depth for the team.

I would have been happy with Cossa and Lethemon in net, but knowing that one of Lyon or Reimer is going to be there too is even better.

New HC Dan Watson knows most these guys well from his time with the Walleye. This should be an operation in hit the ground running for the Griffins.

When Ben Simon and his staff got fired the Wings opted to retain Mike Knuble as AC. But apparently he has since resigned his position. No worries though, we got Brian Lashoff at AC now, who basically mentored every single player on this team already. Simon has since been hired as an AC for the Iowa Wild.

Notable departures:

  • Pontus Andreasson - went back to the SHL
  • Alex Chiasson - signed PTO with the Bruins
  • Kirill Tyutyayev - was not re-signed to an AHL contract and opted to sign an ECHL contract with the Walleye @Neomaxizoomdweebie is an idiot
  • Chase Pearson - THE PEARSGOD is still a free agent
  • Danny O'Regan - still a free agent
  • Alex Nedeljkovic - signed with the Pens
  • Victor Brattstrom - went back to the SHL

There's a lot of blue chip kids in big roles here. AHL is hard on kids. Gonna be greasy times.

Can't be right everytime.

I just don't know what you even based that opinion on lol You decided to hype some random 7th round pick that never showed signs of anything.

I saw him at TC. And he legitimately looked good. Most of the guys at camp that aren't the high end picks are invisible. Toots stood out.

Stood out so much he lost his AHL job in 39 games. Good call bro.

I'm sure injury had nothing to do with his games being limited to 39.

Im sure never getting an NHL contract with the Wings and only scoring 8 pts in those 39 had nothing to do with it

He was noticeable at TC, was heavily involved offensively, and scored several points in practice games as well IIRC. I thought he was a promising based on that. Pro Scouts have more misses than hits, but apparently this makes me an idiot.

I am sure injury could not possibly have had anything to do with his progression  as a player either. Cuz Guys always come back as good as they were before. It never hampers them at all.

Toots is Russian and is staying in the US to play in the ECHL. Now why would he do that?

So you're admitting you were an idiot?

Nope. Saying that a good showing at TC does not guarantee a career in the NHL. And that injury after TC may have played a part in his lack of development.

Like I said, pro scouts have more misses than hits. And they pick their players based on how well they show.

I dont see how that makes someone an idiot.
