Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted June 23, 2018 11 minutes ago, Dabura said: Jonatan Berggren / RW/C / 5’10 183lbs / 07-16-00 (SuperElit) An absolute wrecking ball of a player who has been posting tremendous numbers in the J20 circuit. Logs miles of ice as he forechecks with impunity, distributes the puck and knows how to finish as well. Terrific international performances at the Hlinka, Five Nations and U18’s offer scouts a glimpse of his skill on some big stages and he’s even looked capable in a 10 game stint in the SHL. Some of the best one-on-one skills in the class. A player his coaches love and his opponents hate. YES PLZ Dare I say it, lads? Have we finally found the next...Axel Holmstrom??? 2 Keep Your Stick On the Ice and ChristopherReevesLegs reacted to this

TNWingedWheel 4 Report post Posted June 23, 2018 Okay CBS sports: "The biggest question surrounding McIsaac is whether or not he has enough offensive ability to make up for the mental lapses that creep into his game all too frequently. And while he's a strong skater, McIsaac could stand to use his mobility to his advantage more than he does. He's a pretty good passer, but he doesn't have a huge shot and he doesn't project as your traditional power play quarterback. If the mistakes subside, then the Wings could have a potential second-pairing defender on their hands. If they don't, McIsaac will be difficult to count on for major minutes at the professional level." https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/hockey/news/red-wings-jared-mcisaac-drafted-by-wings-in-round-2/

It reads like they plagiarized WIIM's article, or maybe WIIM plagiarized there's. Try sportsnet, they actually talk to scouts and cite achievements: https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/prospect-interest-411-jared-mcisaac/ Quote Take one good look at Jared McIsaac and see a complete-package defenceman who promises to be a strong player at the NHL level for years to come. He’s got the size, the speed and the offence to do special things, and developing in a strong Halifax Mooseheads program can only help reach his full potential. McIsaac had to show he had the goods right from the start after being selected second overall by the Mooseheads in the QMJHL’s 2016 Draft. He did not disappoint, winning Defensive Rookie of the Year honours and making the All-Rookie Team in 2017 after scoring 32 points in 59 games. If there’s one thing McIsaac has become known for, it’s his ability to move the puck—both up the ice and around the offensive zone. “McIsaac is a good puck mover and sees many options on zone exits,” said Troy Dumville of NHL Central Scouting. “He’s good at distributing the puck on the power play, and he plays top-pairing minutes.” McIsaac told Joe Yerdon of NHL.com that he models his game after Los Angeles Kings star Drew Doughty. McIsaac’s offensive numbers stand out for obvious reasons, but he can play just as well in his own end. “McIsaac’s strong skating ability helps him to be an excellent two-way defender,” says Ben Kerr at lastwordonhockey.com. “He is very difficult to beat one-on-one. “McIsaac can also play a physical game in the corners and in front of the net. However, in order to continue to play this type of game at the next level, McIsaac must get stronger. He is also a smart player, with a strong positional game and good anticipation. McIsaac cuts down passing lanes with an active stick. When a turnover is created, he transitions quickly to offence.” Edited June 23, 2018 by ChristopherReevesLegs 2 1 krsmith17, SwedeLundin77 and Keep Your Stick On the Ice reacted to this
Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted June 23, 2018 15 minutes ago, Datsyukian-Deke said: Our cupboard sure is stocked in forwards now. Hopefully we go D,D,Goalie in the 3rd. And there is always next year for those freaking out about defense. You aren’t going to rebuild an entire team with one draft. Even with 11 picks. We took draft steals and I think we maximized the picks we had so far. Yes 2 defenseman would have been nice so far but I really like Mcisaac Honestly, defensemen are such a crapshoot that a part of me feels like a newly rebuilding/retooling organization like the Wings should favor forwards in the 1st round, unless it's a truly exceptional defenseman who's practically a lock to be an NHL 1D, e.g. Dahlin, Hedman, Ekblad, Doughty. You really just need to find that one special defenseman, and he could emerge at any given time. It's slightly different with forwards: even if you find that special 1C, you still have to surround him with a small army of high-end forwards and some overqualified bottom-sixers. You can only do so much to accelerate that process of assembling a genuinely deep forward group; any one year can gift you that 1D, but assembling a Cup-worthy forward group is going to take a few years. The Wings have quietly been putting a solid forward group together for the past several years, and now, with Zadina and Veleno and Berggren, the work is pretty much complete (at least for the time being). Now the Wings can focus more squarely on finding that 1D. And now they're deep enough at forward that swinging a trade is more doable than it has been. 1 Datsyukian-Deke reacted to this
