The scrappiness is nice and all, but, at the same time, controlled Red Wings zone entries were pretty much nonexistent, because we just kind of accepted that trying to carry the puck around the Avs at their blue line was too tall a task and the better play was always to the dump and chase. Meanwhile, the Avs gained our zone with ease, rarely dumped it into our end. So, the Wings can pat themselves on the back for playing physically, but where it really counted, they more or less let the Avs dictate play. Need to have more of a shooting mentality. Too many forced low-percentage passes that didn't connect and resulted in nothing.
