I might as well get used to him.  But here's what I would do:

1) Zadina + McIsaac + 3rd to Ottawa for Debrincat on 8 years/7 mil per.

2) Debrincat(50% retained) + Viro to Dallas for Stankoven, Harley, 2024 1st

Wings pay 28 mil over 8 years for Stars 2nd best fw prospect, best d prospect, and late first rounder.  Dallas ends up witj Debrincat for 3.5 mil per for 8 years.

Paying 50% for another team's player for 8 years is about the dumbest thing I have ever read in this forum.

You havent thought it thru.

For next 8 years:

3.5 mil retention

2RW Stankoven @ 2 mil

3LHD Harley @ 2 mil

24 1st (pick 29) @ 1 mil

= 3 good roster players @ 8.5 mil

vs.

Debrincat @ 7 mil

Stir on that, Marc.  Think it thru.

Im thinking a 1st this year is what Ottawa demands. But I don’t wanna give them no 17. Savvy Steve should trade back to get a later 1st and an young asset then trade that pick to Ottawa.

Ottawa gave up a #7, a #39, and a 3rd for Debrincat. We'd probably have to sacrafice our #17, #41, and #42.

A lot to give up, but he would look like a real heckin cuterino in a wings jersey. Hes so small and snuggleable.

Interesting....

Trade the #41, #201 and Jared McIssac to San Jose for the #26 and Erik Karlsson (not so young asset) (50% retained,) Ozzy Weisblatt (Young asset, why? Because his name is OZZY!) then trade the 26th, 43nd, 117th and Zadina to Ottawa for Debrincat at 8/$7.5M AAV

Leaves us the #9, #17, #42, #73, #137 & #169 for this draft.

But use it for what?

When asked at the presser about Debrincat, SY did say "we're looking at all of our options, but Alex is a great player and super kawaii 100"

Debrincat is NOT a great player.  Debrincat COULD BE a good player.  He will never be Patrick Kane, Brendan Shanahan, or Cam Neely.  He might end up being Gus Nyquist or Jake Guentzel.

No Scott. Debrincat has eclipsed 60 points 3 times in his 6 year career. 70 points twice.

Nyquist has never broken 60 points in his entire 9 year career.

Debrincat is already better than Nyquist EVER was.

List of teams on Cats trade list has been released: Detroit, Dallas, Nashville, Florida, and Vegas

I've never been more certain of him not coming here. Nashville has the picks, cap space, and geography to make it work

Doesn't make sense. Why give a list of 5 if it's really only a list of 2?

5 teams he's willing to spend a year of his life with? 2 place he wants to spend the rest of his life?

It's easy to me.

Detroit is his home. He would extend immediately.

Dallas is in the most popular state to move to in this country right now. Projected to pass Cali in population in something years. No income tax.

Vegas, Miami, and Nashville are places/teams he likes. But has to feel out before he's willing to extend.
