Yzerman must be working on some sort of trade because with $20M in cap, there's no reason why Seider and Raymond aren't signed. He must be gonna acquire someone, then figure out what cap he has to clear to get them signed. It has to be D, so who are we getting?

The SCAM is not a genius.  We give him way too much credit for his IQ.  Maybe because he wears glasses and speaks softly or something.  He's just a former hockey player trying to build a hockey team.  He needs help from us.

Honestly, I'm not too bothered by most of the moves made in the offseason. I think we have a legitimate top six (for the most part) and added size and skill in Tarasenko. The Walman trade was perplexing from an asset management standpoint, but I think Edvinsson is up to the challenge of eating those minutes. Seider will take over for Ghost on the top powerplay and Gustafson/Edvinsson/Johansson will take over the second unit. The goaltending is marginally better and you'd have to think any two of Talbot, Lyon, or Husso will be solid enough to give us adequate goaltending throughout the season. I even really like the thought of both Berggren and Mazur on the 4th line. My only issues are the 2nd pair RHD position (still Petry or Holl) and the 2C situation (We're still only a Larkin injury away from ruin).

Tarasenko-Larkin-Raymond

Dcat-Compher-Kane

Ras-Copp-Fischer

Berggren-Veleno-Mazur

Motte

Chiarot-Seider

Edvinsson-Petry/Holl/Johansson

Maatta-Gustavsson

Petry/Holl/Johansson

Spread out the scoring

Not really sure I want a top six that doesn't feature a single winger over 6ft or 200 lbs. Our forecheck would be terrible and we'd get eaten alive. Kane isn't a top line player anymore. Hasn't been in a while. He doesn't even bother trying to win puck battles or forecheck. You cannot have that on the ice for 20(ish) minutes a night and expect to win games.

Kane, Tarasenko and Motte are real gud addtions, imho. Top 6 gets help and the 4th line(or whatever you use for a checking line) and PK gets depth. This leaves it pretty open in the middle six for prospects to grab a spot. Me like.

I'd like to see Kasper in the middle of those guys as they played pretty well together in GRapids.   Maybe to start the 25/26 season.

It's time.

Patrick Kane

Class: Cool step-dad

Doesn't truly love us, and never will, but that’s okay. Patty Daddy is the only step dad who never hit us or tried to trick us into going into the naked candy basement. Now that he has a job, moms lettin him smash again, and we couldnt be happier. Welcome home Patty Daddy.

Strengths: being fuqqin cool

Weaknesses: too cool to play defense and will probably cheat on mom

Vlad Tarasenko

Class: Blues Brother

With Walman and Fabbri gone, the band desperately needed another former blues brother. 2 cups in 6 years, and now he's on a mission from god to get a 3rd.

Strengths: Not supporting Ukraine

Weaknesses: Penguins, Illinois Nazis, ex-wives with bazookas

file-erik-gustafsson-headline-aland.jpg?

Erik Gustafsson

Class: Samurai Ronin

When covid19 took the life of his master jonathan toews, like step dad patrick, he was caste out of Chicago and forced to roam the league a disgraced ronin. He no longer fights for honor or duty, only for sweet PP assists and to hear the lamentations of the enemies women.

Strengths: throwing the ball deep, take the top off the defense

Weaknesses: PP QB specialist

tyler-motte-2024-55.jpg

Tyler Motte

Class: Buddy from college

Has a great crypto startup you need to invest in. Otherwise you haven't heard from this guy since he did 12 jagerbombs and fell out of a window at gamma kappa phi.

Strengths: will do borderline g-ay sheit if you're down

Weaknesses: knows about all the borderline g-ay sheit you've done

Cam Talbot

Class: 37 year old man

Plays goalie (g-ay???)

Strengths: who cares

Weaknesses: old, not cool

Me too, but I genuinely think Kasper could use more time in GR (like Edvinsson last season). Kasper is 90% of the way there, but his finishing needs more work. I'd love to see him go down to GR to start the season, play as their 1C and get top powerplay minutes, work on getting his shot off sooner (it's already fairly accurate) and round out his game. I see his floor as a Sam Bennett type (20G, 20-30A) but if he could bump that up to 70ish points a season I'd be thrilled.

That said, if he comes out and has a great camp and/or lights it up his first 10-20 games in GR then bring him up for good.

I think it's more an issue of room that we don't have at this point.  Mazur, Johansson, Edvinsson, and Berggren all becoming full timers combined wtih the logjam of worthless defensemen the SCAM likes to accumulate is going to make it tough for Danileson and Kasper, regardless of how well they play during the pre-season.  The Yzerplan SUCKS right now.  The Red Wings do not play their best players each night.  Until that changes, we're in for frustration.

Danielson, Kasper, and Berggren are better than Austin Czarnik, Matt Luft, and Motte.

Edvinsson, Johansson, and ASP are better than Chiarot, Petry, Lagesson, and Holl.

And I mean NOW.  Not 5 years from now.  Not when the prospects are ripe.  NOW.  They were better last season, as well.  We aren't playing our #1 draft picks, and it's stupid.  It's one thing to let them develop in GR if we're a Stanley Cup contender with what we have.  But we're not.  We're TRASH with what we have.  Why give all the NHL experience to pieces of crap instead of our first and 2nd round draft picks?  Cause of the 15 year YzerSCAM?  F that bs.  It's a SCAM.  KRSmith can get us back into the playoffs if you give him a 10 year time frame.  That's not some special feat.  That's a natural progression.  The SCAM was supposed to speed that up.  And that's not going to happen if we play scrubs.

We don't play our best players.

So you are that saying that our HC and GM, whose jobs are to win, are deliberately playing lesser, weaker players over more talented players? Not buying it.

I'm NOT saying that, but I think there may be a possibility that they have played lesser talent to keep ELC / RFA deals in tact.  And that sucks when you're ONE FRICKING POINT from being in the playoffs.  What I am saying is that they played the wrong players last year.  Edvinsson was a better option to play for every defensemen we had last year not named Moritz Seider.  He's better, and he was better, than all of them.  We didn't play him until March.  That cost us a playoff run.  That SUCKS BALLS, dude.
