#2305885 Red Wings make contract offer to D Justin Schultz

Posted by Majsheppard on 07 June 2012 - 05:19 PM

E impressed at times, but still isn't worth his contract. This year I think you can expect him to be...

#2305875 Would you make this trade?

BTW, Green is one of the worst defensemen I have ever seen. He has offensive power and helps a power play but is terrible defensively, gets banged up every so often, and just isn't someone I would build my defense around. I think he is a luxury, and the Wings surely can't afford that let alone at the expense of cornerstones.

#2305745 Wings interested in Garrison

Posted by Majsheppard on 07 June 2012 - 01:35 AM

The last major rebuild following the lockout saw Holland doing things one way. He brought in a ton of players that did not reach their potential in other places, were overlooked, or were specific player types and some didn't make the cut but the entire team was shook up by players who fought for time. I wouldn't be surprised to see Garrison be added in addition to Schultz and others. Lilja, Sammuelson, Cleary were all those types of players... the team also let young players come in that didn't crack the roster as much.

I still think this will be the major way of the rebuild. He will go after Parise and Suter... maybe even try to make a blockbuster... this doesn't mean it will be a given. I think they are prepared to take a few more steps back than we would like to make sure the team stays on their tracks. It won't make me happy, but then again, there is very little that I really want to add to the team that would fix it that doesn't require a trade.

I am more upset that we didn't make more moves with Lids on the team.

I wanted Willie, Anze, Brown, Carter, Richards all when they were available but none were obtainable with the exception of Willie and they are playing so well now. Although it would help if we drafted Quick... My point is we have the will, but it is going to take several shrewd moves to improve and a few years. I think we all have to realize it is going to get ugly before it gets better, but competition won't be the worst... unless we give up on the wrong person then GO TRADE FOR HIM LATER!!!! I blame Quincey for everything :P Maybe I should make that Meech.

Personally, with all I have read so far... I am hoping Nill takes over next season and the team moves in a different direction, preferably one that involves at least one new offensively minded coach who can get more of a puck hound game going...

Anyways... tangent? I say if we miss out on either Parise or Suter... we should add as many bodies as possible and relegate the losers to the AHL where contracts don't matter. Get ready for the next wave and maybe get one more before the Euro Twins era ends the same way the Lidstrom era ended, and the Yzerman before that...

No, I want all the naysayers who negged me and such to have their crow and eat it too.

The point of the thread was to point out we weren't going to beat them in the first round, but we could beat them later on. We needed to get a grove we didn't have yet, and if we played PHX we might have won.

WE KNOW NOW WE DIDN'T BEAT NASHVILLE!!! That proves that 6th would have been a better outcome.

I took the crap for laying it down how it really was. You folks should stand up and recognize that IT WAS how it was. Eat the damn crow.

#2293318 Depression.

I share your dilemma. Not only the playoffs, but certain things at work and the health of people close to me has also contributed.

Usually I either go to the casino or get drunk, but the casino is killing me financially and I've become immune to whiskey.

What I have found brings joy to my life like nothing else is helping someone else. There is no greater feeling of accomplishment than to know that you have made someone else's life better. Not for your own glory or to receive praise, but just for the pure joy of knowing that the world is a better place, if only in one little area.

If you find that you expect something back, then it's a better idea to do it anonymously.

This has helped me through about 30 years of depression without meds. I firmly believe in the power of giving.

Except blow jobs. I don't give those. Eew.

Can I give Shea Weber a keychain across his face?

I think maybe Slap Shot might make me smile! Yeah, I have a volunteer thing lined up... Gas is just crazy spensive.

Turn on the radio, find a song you like and play air drums! Works for me everytime! (short term solution though :D )

I supposed I could do that, or maybe play the drums for reals-zee. I bet I suck now...

Except blow jobs. I don't give those. Eew.

Shea Weber gives those, but only if your name is Shanahan. :D

#2292774 What's Kenny Holland's Offseason Plan?

Posted by Majsheppard on 19 April 2012 - 12:06 PM

The Franzen contract isn't bad. I stand by the concept that we need another big time forward to allow us to balance the top lines for chemistry. There just isn't any way to put Franzen and Pavel together without destroying that line or the second to compensate.

Pavel Fil and Franzen would be the best bet.

#2292725 How do we fix this?

Posted by Majsheppard on 19 April 2012 - 09:54 AM

Fire Babcock.

Also, I think we can forget about Suter now. Why would you leave a team that is better shape than the Wings?

I would be worried that they manage to get Parise now...

Saying it now... Phoenix is a much better option than Nashville.

It would have been like all home games.

#2277190 Milbury slams Blysma and Crosby

Posted by Majsheppard on 03 April 2012 - 12:37 PM

Have you ever tried to fight in a skirt? I can barely sit, stand, or breathe in one. There's a reason chicks are lady-like and restrained in a skirt. In a word: pantyhose.

I don't know what you are talking about. A skirt does not restrict breathing, nor does pantyhose. I have seen plenty of girls throw down in all sorts of garments. I find it funny, because suits are harder to fight in, as the shoulder seem makes it impossible to have full range of motion with the arms, which is far more important in a fight.

I digress, Milbury is a misogynistic dinosaur, and he should be taking heat for that and not his Crosby comments. Last I checked, he is getting paid for his opinion.

Where are all the ladies when these threads go down?!?!?

I just realized 55fan is a girl. I apologize. I still don't get why a skirt would inhibit your fighting, maybe you are wearing a size too small>?

#2277187 Milbury slams Blysma and Crosby

What bothers me the most about Crosby... is that I don't think he would have acted like this if he wasn't paired up with Mario when he got drafted.

I imagine an alternate reality where he was drafted anywhere that had a true hockey player vet with class to take him under the Wing.

I just don't think he takes a dive if he was drafted by a team like Detroit and played under Lidstrom. The difference in personality might have been epic.

I love the Crosby comments, hate the Bylsma comments. I hate that skirt type bull s***. Plenty of people in skirts that could kick Milbury's ass. That gender s*** is so past relevant. Grow up dinosaur.

Crosby should get hit, because he is playing hockey.

#2277169 Quincey suspended 1 game

Posted by Majsheppard on 03 April 2012 - 11:35 AM

They would have just traded it at the draft anyways...

Yeah... but we would have gotten two players who would play for us in return... this makes the trade even worse.

I have determined that I no longer give a flying #%&@ what anyone thinks of what I say.

You all have no hockey sense if you think he has played well to this point, think he will be the difference in winning a cup, think that he will make losing Stuart or Lidstrom okay, or think that he is worth the salary and draft pick we will give up, or think that losing Kindl as well doesn't make the trade worse, or thinks that the two college boys we were looking at would have been any worse than using the first pick we traded and signing them for depth.

It all boils down to options. Giving up that first for Kyle severely limited our options. If we saw significant short term benefits, then we would be able to justify it. True, we don't know if he will make a difference in the playoffs yet. From what I see, the only logical conclusion is to not bet on it. I really hope I am wrong, but well you can be the judge. I just find your judgement to this point to be flawed if you perceive my "negativity" as anything but realistic appraisal of what has happened to this point.
