    Hudler's Options

I couldn't find the article I was thinking of, but there was recently an article that detailed Holland's plans to woo Hudler back to the Wings and it mentioned there that having him back for the playoffs was out of the question. It must have to do with the status of Hudler as an NHL player right now. He's basically defected so it isn't the same thing as a player who's injured and wants to come back. Also, why does this have to be addressed to "Hudler slappies"? Do you considered all Wings fans who like Hudler "slappies"? That's just stupid. I have to chuckle at how some Wings fans will do anything they can to diminish Hudler's perceived value to the team. The stats don't lie-- we could really use his offense right now.

How stupid. We needed stuart this past year. We'd be f***ed without him.

57pts. Was he a minus? Nope. How is that even a question for you? Yeah, Hudler's 12 mins a night of ice time was totally enough to put up 65-80. And "may be able to put up 40-50 points"? He hasn't dipped below 40pts since his rookie season. His NHL numbers were 25/42/57 in his three years of play. Your description is as fitting as saying a new corvette may have 200 horsepower. Oh really? Which forwards topped that on the Wings last season? How much are they making this season? Seriously-- look it up.

    Hudler's Options

"Hudler slappies" I don't see him coming back next year, but that's just me. If he comes back, Babcock will likely put him on the 4th line again. It's a no win situation.

Eaves is the man and he wears the right jersey.

Do not agree with Stuart being THE least valuable player in the league... He is a huge reason the wings were able to hang around while our entire team was hurt.. that seems pretty valuable. It looks like this guy is going purely off stats which is an awful way to do this list

I guess other people don't overrate Stuart the way we do here.

Yeah, if we ignore his play in the last 3 games he played you're on the button. Were you one of the people who whined about Quincey. Well it'd likely be the same damn thing with Ericsson except E was a highly regarded prospect before entering the NHL and Q was considered a run of the mill type of guy. By all means piss away the best defensive prospect the Wings have in the pro ranks. But it's good that guys with actual decision making power have the intelligence and understanding of defensive prospect development not to make such asinine remarks. Could be that Lebda has zero upside and all Ericsson has is upside. Who knows. Christ, if the guys here ran the NHL Jack Johnson would already be run out of the league. Don't forget how well he played as a call-up in 07-08 and 08-09. Ericsson's struggled this season, yeah, but he's excelled literally every other year he's been in the Wings system. Only a retard would walk away from a 6'4 defenseman who's had that kind of success based on his play in his rookie season. Newsflash-- 95% of the d-men in the NHL struggled in their first season. That's the norm.

Ericsson back in lineup, Howard to start vs Edmonton

Ericsson has scored like many of his goals against edmonton and the two latest games at their arena he scored and had a good game maybe babcock checked his history and decided to go with him after that

    Hudler's Options

I read on here that I don't think it is possible, though I would love for it to happen largely for any future responses or rants from you just for the entertainment factor, because your disliking of Hudler is both extremely fascinating and a bit creepy at the same time.

    The person below me game...

I will! Travel and seeing new places is important to me. Going out of town for a few days in late April, annual summer family vacation around the 4th of July, and something possibly in the works for a few days in the fall out west in Utah or Nevada. The person below me thinks this is funny.

    This or That

I HATED contacts when I tried them out. HATED them. Could never get them to adjust to my eyes, literally took me an hour to get them to settle on my eyes, they never worked properly. I like how I look in glasses. Sewage Smell or Junkyard Smell

I definitely approve, even if it looks like I'm a bit too expressive.

A part of me wouldn't mind Hudler back simply for entertainment purposes, the dude's pretty funny.

Draper sure has been playing a helluva lot better than last year. He's been a pretty reliable defensive forward (who doesn't know how to shoot the puck).

You find me a backup with Osgood's resume and mental focus in the post-season (who will take 500k), including a team that will take Osgood, also without tarnishing the loyal reputation the Wings have and I will say "bring him in!" Otherwise Holland is keeping him for next year. Considering Howard is making roughly 750k (2.1 mil between them), I don't think that is too much money invested in goaltending.

Holmstrom has had a great season

Love to see him get those tips. It's too bad he can't stay healthy for very long stretches anymore. His body must be duct taped together.

Would not mind having him back, assuming if he comes back the contract he has with the Wings was similar before he left in Russia. Was typically solid in his role as a PP specialist and chipping in points every now and then on even strength.

    First round of the playoffs

Doesn't matter to me. The Wings can beat anybody when they play as close to a 60 minute game as possible. The question is can they do it enough times consistently to win 4 times out of 7.

Sammy really got the short end of the stick when Hossa signed. Forced him down to less minutes, same with Fil really. He can be very inconsistent and take some really awful shots, but he's always been a lot better than most here give him credit for. Holland had to make some difficult cap decisions, Sammy was one of those. If he knew now what happend with Hudler going over seas and Hossa signing in Chicago I believe he would have signed Sammy to about 2 million. Personally I hated losing a right handed shot with size, but I didn't like how babcock used him on the point. To play the point you need to make smart, quick decisions and that's not Sammy's game. Always thought he'd be much more valuable down low on his off wing, firing the one timers on the PP. It was quite funny that some thought Williams would be a good replacement for him though. He's a much better player than Bert or Willy obviously, but we had to shop at the bargain bin last summer.

Do we release Ozzie after this season...

Forgot you were on this forum, I'll have to be more specific for you. We need another goalie that doesn't suck to play with Howard. Doc, don't derail this thread like you do every other goalie one. You've had your say on the subject now let others do the same. You don't need to respond to every single post that doesn't share your opinion. IMO if Osgood wasn't under contract for next year he wouldn't be coming back, but since he is were stuck with him unfortunately.

WE need another goalie to play some games next year. Howard can't play 82.
