For those of us going to game 4..
Hockeymom1960 and 5 others reacted to stevieisthebest for a post in a topic
I am not an idiot, I know that the chances of winning this series are slim. However, why should that prevent us from being as loud as possible? This is our team, and we love them dearly. So my challenge to those who are going to game 4, be as loud, and crazy as possible! Lets do those "JIMMY, JIMMY" or "HOWIE, HOWIE" chants, chant for Lids, we may witness his last game ever. We have had a hell of a season so far, and ITS NOT OVER YET!! Lets show this team, and Lids, and Howie, and everyone else how much we appreciate them. LETS ******* RIOT, and take game 4! LGW! -

put ozzy in, now?

Don't put Ozzie in now to take the hit for the series loss. Howard is the guy that got us here, and he needs to see it through to the finish. -

crotty99 and one other reacted to Red Wings 2010 for a post in a topic
I would have to say to put ozzy in and give him a try. Our chances of winning this series is extremely low, and we mine as well test out osgood. If I was babs, I would play him! -
2 pointsAlthough many of you will disagree with a thought of winning this series, the Wings are the only team in the NHL that I believe can pull off a 3-0 comeback. They would be the 3rd in history to do such and hopefully this is there year. History will have to be made in order for this to occur. The reason I believe the wings can pull this off is the they have not been outplayed in any of the games in this series. All of the games were lost on late mental mistakes by both Howard and the defense. The wings HAVE to go with a 1 game at a time mentality, otherwise the series is over. What will have to happen: Babcock will have to control the emotions of the team Howard will have to make big saves all game The defense HAS to tighten up Stop the sharks pp and ignite our offense on our PP's Ref's will have to put there whistles away, no bs calls Wings HAVE to capitalize on the sharks mistakes Smart decisions when on the ice Get more pucks on net Get into Nabbies's head Star players have to play great No giving up when down Now there are plenty of other things that will have to occur, but the wings must start there. Lets Go Wings!

Who would you most blame for a round 2 loss?
dobbles and one other reacted to Electrophile for a post in a topic
All of them are the reason we're down 3-0. You win as a team, you lose as a team. The refs definitely aren't helping. And blaming Crosby is fun, no matter what it's for, so throw him in too. -

Why is Howard still in the net?
Electrophile reacted to SouthernWingsFan for a post in a topic
Screw this, we need Demon Goalie from Mutant League Hockey!!! And in all seriousness, how many of these threads are we going to have? Jesus cripes. Howard is still in the net because Osgood has barely played in the past 3-4 months and Howard did little/nothing to suggest getting yanked over that period on a consistent basis. Whether you think it is right/wrong is entirely subjective, but this is Howard's team now. He's either going to be the one to miraculously bring this team out of 50 feet of rubble, or he's going to go down in flames like the rest of the team quickly. I knew there was a reason you are so smart! LOL! I've never been more convinced you will not be a goalie coach. -

Ritola in for Williams in game 4?
Vladifan reacted to Drake_Marcus for a post in a topic
May isn't an upgrade over Williams offensively or in terms of speed. May's grit would be great to have around but right now the Wings desperately need speed and scoring so they can push this to a fifth game. May just isn't going to help much in that department. Now, if this were the other way around and the Wings were up 3-0 I could see putting May in. -

1 pointLook at the regular season +/-, then consider that Lidstrom, Rafalski, Z, and Dats are all out there against the best other teams have to offer. Most specifically Lidstrom is matched up against the Crosbys, Ovechkins, Kovalchuks, Sedins, Hossas, etc of the league. He still has a significantly higher +/- than any other defenseman on the team excepting his own defensive partner (Lidstrom was +22, next closest was Kronwall at +5). Saying that you WANT Lidstrom to go is incredibly stupid.

1 pointIf the team that played Game 7 against Phoenix showed up, we would win the series no problem. They gotta wanna - for 3600 seconds - every player - no exceptions! pffft - these guys are highly paid professionals - piece o-cake - we got this in the bag.

I'm sorry, but this is getting ridiculous. I'm not taking anything away from Lidstrom, he's clearly one of the greats, but there are 7 other teams in the playoffs who don't have a Hall of Famer as their number one defenseman, and they seem to be getting along fine. Dan Boyle? Sammy Salo? Sergei Gimpchar? I can't even name Montreal's number 1, is it Spacek? The point is you don't have to have a generational talent on your team in order to compete, and there are other players in this league who can play a little bit of defense. We even happen to have a couple on our team right already. Is it going to suck to not see one of our favorites play anymore? Yea, but I'd be surprised to see us miss the playoffs completely the year after Nick hangs them up. Flame on -

1 pointI may be in the minority, but I really like the current location at the Joe - downtown, on the river. I always enter/exit at the river entrance and park on the far side of Cobo - adds to the whole event atmosphere. Far better than having a stadium in the middle of a many-acres parking lot or jammed onto some generic city block somewhere. I say rehab the Joe or replace with a new arena very near by.

Easily our best player? With Zetterberg, he's not even necessarily our best forward every game. Sure, Pavel plays a flashy game and is absolutely phenomenal at both ends of the rink. He's probably the league's most exciting player to watch, especially one-on-one. But, Nick quietly gets the job done. He's the steadying influence of our team. He shuts down the other team's best players and makes those crucial outlet passes (the key to our puck possession style and transition game for years now). Also, there isn't another D-man better at holding the line. It's just all the little things he does that make him night-in, night-out our best player. Datsyuk would say so himself. And so would Zetterberg, Yzerman, and Ken Holland, etc. I admit though, for the first time ever, he has started to have the occasional bad game. But in many respects, he's still the same Lidstrom we've seen for years. The same Lidstrom that continues to be our best player. Perhaps nobody else is admitting that Nick is our best player out of fear for having to ponder what this team will look like once he hangs 'em up. -

I know. It's a shame. Z would be a Conn Smythe Candidate again if this team advanced. Not enough depth and some weak goals killed their chances. But this thread is about Hank. 13 points in ten games while shutting down top lines (+7) is pretty much bad ass. -

I don't know if I could name any one overarching cause. If we break it down game by game, though: In Game 1 the blown call on Franzen was atrocious and cost the Wings the game. In Game 2 the refereeing wasn't great again but the Wings managed to skate to a 3-3 tie when all of the sudden Nick's stick breaks and the game-winner is in the net -- what can you do? Nothing about either the officiating or the integrity of a stick, that's just rotten bad luck. Howard is squarely to blame for tonight's loss, though. The Sharks have played the Wings very well but I feel like the Wings deserved a win in one of those first two games and didn't get it. Unfortunately, deserves got nothing to do with it. You win or you lose. -
1 pointThanks for the clarification, Matt. But speaking as a twelve-stepper myself, I haven't put anything behind me if I take even one more drink. Millions have learned the hard way that if you are truly addicted, there's no such thing as being able to drink moderately.
