Ok, now the Hawks obsession is getting to be a bit much. (8 Hawks related threads on the first page). The Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup. The Wings did not. Everything's still going to be okay. Though that is freakin hilarious.

You're too soft, back in the day, it would have been a nice hit and solid play.

Did the Hawks get a little lucky?

To me, the 2009 Red Wings, 2009 Penguins, and even the 8 seeded 2009 Ducks were all better than the 2010 Blackhawks. Dont get me wrong, the Preds and Canucks are nice teams but they arent elite by any means.. The Sharks series was impressive, but come on, they are perennial chokers. The Sharks were outscored in a series against a Wings team decimated by the salary cap. Lastly, the Flyers made a cinderella run in a very weak conference. Maybe Im underestimating them, however I just dont think they had to beat any elite teams this playoff, and I still think the Wings of last year would have beat them pretty easily. I think this was the easiest road to the cup in the last 10-15 years? What do you guys think?

People do tend to talk about current events. Wouldn't it be more ridiculous if there were 8 Crosby related threads on the first page?

The League isn't very happy after hearing that all the goal judges from the SCF have filed workers' compensation claims due to CTS.

And the point is proven that you can pretty much spin any argument the way you want to to justify a team being lucky or whatever. For any bitter Penguins fan in 2008, I can guarantee you they probably have a laundry list of why the Wings were lucky to win it all of at least 100 items, whether they are legitimate or not. It's a stupid ridiculous argument. Every team is going to get lucky every now and again to win a championship, in any sport. Happens in every league. Good teams both get lucky sometimes and make their own breaks from luck. Like these championships are tainted or aren't good enough because a team wasn't "fully good" or whatever. Give me a fricken break.

    Fire sale in Chicago?

Actually, someone out there might be willing to bite on Huet if he comes with a free Versteeg. Versteeg would be payment for them eating Huet's brutal contract and would probably be just the kind of thing someone would be willing to do just to get Versteeg. A team like Atlanta might do something like that just because they have the cap room and Versteeg is a good young player.

    Fire sale in Chicago?

The point is there will be no dynasty in Chicago due to poor management. Yes they won the cup, but had they done it right, they could possibly have been a dynasty team for the next decade or so. As a Red Wings fan, to me, that's more important. Of course they have bragging rights like the 2004 Tampa Bay Lightning did.. but it only lasts for one year. In 2 years nobody is really going to remember the Blackhawks because they won't be contenders. While the Detroit Red Wings will be right in there every year and will always have a legit chance to bringing the cup back home where it belongs. For that reason, I point and laugh.

    Fire sale in Chicago?

I think its funny that he would comment in a Detroit Red Wings forum and then say its funny that we are talking about the blackhawks...

    Fire sale in Chicago?

Since a good number already responded to everything else in your post I'll focus on this part. Most of us here are hockey fans and love to talk about hockey during the off season no matter who or what its about. This "fire sale" thing is big news in the league as of right now and is pretty much the only thing to talk about if you are not a Blackhawks fan. How the 'Hawks decide to deal with this situation can potential have a mass ripple effect on the rest of the League. Other teams getting stronger, maybe the NHLPA not liking how they see some players getting treated (that's very extreme though), again who knows until after the dust has settled. This is a very interesting topic for an NHL fan. EDIT: Also I think its funny you said the bold part. There is another thread on these forums that show people chanting "Detroit sucks" when the 'Hawks came home. Not even cheering for their team but booing for another team.

Hmmm...maybe because they just won the Stanley Cup? There's not a whole lot to talk about on an NHL board in the middle of June, believe it or not. Again, LOL at yet another Blackhawks fan that goes on a Red Wings forum (better yet, this one just registered) two days after his team won the Stanley Cup because he's more concerned with the Red Wings than the Blackhawks. Kind of ironic, seeing as the discussion is about them being the ones obsessing with the goings-on of a team that lost in the second round when they just won the friggin championship. How many threads were on this board about Colorado after the Wings won in 08? How many Crosby sucks chants did you hear afterwords?

Who cares? Seriously. Who cares? They won, they can chant/sing/say whatever the hell they want. To the victor go the spoils. Just like if we win the Cup next season, our fans can chant/sing/say whatever the hell THEY want. I've never seen a group of people more preoccupied with the goings-on of some other team's fan base than this one. Yeesh.

Enjoy the 1 and done tho. Chicago scares me not especially the fact they have to dump the entire roster. Drought is done with but another could start.

    Filppula or Hudler

But Hudler could never skate the puck from the neutral zone int the offensive zone. Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Filppula are the only one's on the Wings that can do it.
